Looking forward to seeing Connor Williams and that second-year jump. Heavier, stronger and more experienced is just what the doctor ordered. This O-line is talented and deep and if Columbo can get them to play with the edginess that he possessed they could be downright nasty. It's going to be a fun watch. Other players making that second-year jump, Vander Esch, Gallup and Armstrong.

I'd love to see him and La'el Collins battle it out at right tackle. I think there are too many mouths to feed for Collins to return after this season, and I think Williams might be able to upgrade the right tackle position, where Collins has never developed into what I thought he would.
With Tyron Smith battling a bad back year to year, I see Williams taking the LT spot and McGovern taking the LG spot by seasons end. But I'm not opposed to Collins getting relieved either.

Where's it at?

It was actually in a video off of Dallas Cowboys.com, I can’t remember which one though. He had his shirt off and there was a little extra weight from what he had last year.

Not very much though. I didn’t mean to convey that it was much.

Yes I read that. With Smith, Fleming, and Collins out, they didn’t have much choice.

I also read that their starting OL is: Smith - Williams - Frederick - Martin - Collins.
It was encouraging to read that he was still familiar with how the T position works and he was pretty comfortable.
I could see some swing reps going his way, but the majority going to that LG position.

McGovern is much more ready to play LG than Williams. His whole career was playing interior oline, they say he has NFL ready power, and he is 26. Williams was changing to an entirely new position, just wasn't strong enough, and was only 21.

They should both be starting this year. We'll have the oline set for the next 3 years. I wouldn't wait on either one. See if we can move Collins. 10 mil for Collins is too much to pay when we have his heir *and* depth behind him waiting.
McGovern is 21 years old... not 26.
However, I do agree that he is more ready to play guard than Williams was last year, and he does indeed have NFL ready strength and size.

Yeah, I think he’ll get reps there in camp too.

If McGovern looks good enough from the jump, who knows... they might go ahead and move Williams to RT and Stash get his wish.

It certainly could happen.

Especially since La’el had shoulder surgery...

What? McGovern is 21. I believe you Google'd the Connor McGovern who played for the Broncos, who is 26.

You're right. Thanks.

Pro Football Reference say 26. Maybe they got him confused with another the Connor McGovern G at Denver.

Wikipedia has him right as 21.

Giggitty! I was a little disappointed that he was so old.

Was there ever any doubt this was the plan? Stephen has done a masterful job of preparing for the future.

there's more depth of experience plus a R3 pick
that matters, but unless they play far better than when last seen this OL is in trouble

OL keys in 2019

they have to a dominant red zone force - up from dead last in 2018

cut the sack count in half -
keep Dak clean through 2nd read, if not in the pocket then rolling, it would be wonderful if do well

get Zeke back to double digit rushing TDs - work in far more man blocking for Zeke, get a body on a body and he roll

come ready to "play fast" - the biggest thing that changed scheme wise last mid season was running a lot more plays

I think they can get all that and more done

more than anything else stay healthy - depth is a wonderful thing, but go back and watch the Rams game ... Travis would changed

Thank goodness. I read that and hoped he wasn't a 26 year old rookie

but can he play heavy handed and hold his own? Will he get overwhelmed? Guess we will find out. SOME players play no better after gaining the weight.
