I've noticed bloggers/fans are either proclaiming greatness and draft steal OR claiming season doom in regards to C-Will.

It just find it interesting because he is clearly not on either extreme at this point.

He looks like he'll be very good at some point but he also looks like he might really struggle in some games against some opponents (Snacks Harrison...).

I've noticed this concept more this year; although it's probably this way every year.

I was looking at the CZ front page and basically all threads and links to blogging sites were either exclaiming a player or the team as great OR exclaiming there is impending doom.

I personally enjoy analysis that is neither and just looks at a player or the roster to point out both the good and bad.

That's the main reason I did a play-by-play on him. I think a lot of fans see a couple of bad plays and that means it's all bad while some do the opposite. Video clips can be cherry-picked to support either view.

If you are not a subscriber to The Athletic, and read Sturm's work there, well you are just missing out on sound analysis. His taking on the top four draft picks in an article a few weeks back was terrific. He had video and broke them down.

He is high on Connor and Schultz, as well as Gallup. He also followed up with detailed comments on both Schultz and C-Will since.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I find this site has value and insight. Not just Sturm.

Yes, Sturm is awesome.

It's amazing that in his side job he is radically better than media that "analyze" the team team as their primary job (see Brian Broaddus).

Intelligence always eventually triumphs over experienced stupid people.

He needs to get stronger, but with what this kid did to his body in the last 4 years I have no doubt he'll be able to add the strength. He also needs to get used the speed and power of the defenses he's going to go up against every week. Guys like Buckner and Billings and the LBs he's going to be asked to block when he pulls are no joke. He's going to win some and lose some, but I like the trajectory so far.

Noticed this also.

X, people like to ride on one extreme or the other.
It's why the usual whipping boys are players that are somewhere in between "suck" and "awesome".
Dak.
Crawford.
M. Collins.
L. Collins.
Heath (sorta).
B. Jones.

Many on this site predict doom and gloom no matter what. More so than predictions of glory.
So not surprised at the CWill negativity nor the optimism. I am much more positive on him then negative. Jist as all rookies, needs a year of experience then a co,plate off season after his rookie year.

So,etimes I wonder how much fans are really fans. I don’t mean fair weather fans, but how much do they really follow the draft and the players, and everything that really goes on. I know many fans that hear or read the headlines, or some radio goofs opinion, then just roll with to and be,dive it.
So therefore they are right in what they think and say.

What does this have to do with anything, well nothing, LOL. But just wondering how many fans, and yes they are true fans, and watch every game. But how much do they read otherwise. As I said, I know many that do not. And when I call them out on it, they get defensive but can’t back it up with facts. I mean people I know that I see in person. On here, many seem to be more informed in some way. Some don’t. But many do.

The problem is people take a side early and are generally too insecure to listen objectively to a perspective that challenges their initial position. They feel attacked if someone points out something that bumps up against their initial thought.

It’s the way of our world with the internet and social media.

As for Connor Williams...he will struggle at times and he will be ok at times. Hopefully he can develop into a solid Guard... I have questions if he should be our day 1 starter though....not his fault.

Yes, all of those players have been hated by some fans.

Heath might be the All-Time whipping boy. Fans hated him because as a rookie he (and teammates) were abused by Calvin Johnson.

Heath was an undrafted rookie having to help defend a guy that could win in almost any situation. Against triple coverage, one on one, you name it. Calvin in his prime was borderline unstoppable.

Those facts didn't matter to a large group of "fans".

They wanted him cut and posted about it almost daily for years.

question is if he is another parnell...

Only thing I'm worried about with him is strength and attitude. Leary was a man, and Collins had his moments as well. The LG is generally a bad dude. I do like the way he finishes blocks however.

He's a rookie and needs to put on some weight to hold up against NFL DTs. He has impressive technique. He'll improve over the season and should be a reliable player next year. As long as he isn't a complete liability, we should be fine. It took La'el a few years and he still isn't at the level of our Big 3. Have patience. He was a good pick.

Is Heath a quality multi year starting S in your opinion? As in a guy you don’t think about upgrading in the off-season. I know it’s not the point of this thread at all, just an honest question.

Didn’t you predict he would be the “weakest link on our line for years to come” on another thread? That would seem to be picking a side way too early.

Agreed. I've always been Heath's biggest fan. Dude plays with absolutely fierce intensity. More importantly, he plays with a chip on his shoulder and I love that.

Besides Sean Lee (and D Law's production a season ago), no one on this team has made more plays for this defense in the past few years. I will remember the game winning play at Oakland last season for the rest of my life.

There's 's never been any grey area when talking about the Cowboys. I think some folks have their agendas and do everything they can to prove them. So if they think the team suck, nothing the team does will ever be good in their eyes.

Lol. Just wait till the season starts. I think he will get better as the season goes on. But people will be critical of him this season. He misses a block and it’s on. Lol.

I do agree that he is gonna make some mistakes against elite players that could be bad. But I think he will get help in those games. Preseason he has played a lot of snaps. Much needed snaps.
