Twitter: Connor Williams Expected To Start

Well. Let’s hope the holding flags don’t fly today. He plays pretty well but we get a big run and it gets called back by a holding. Sometimes it’s not really a hold but the refs watch him for some reason. Pollard had a huge run that was called and the commentators even called it a bad call.

Sounds like we still have a mess on the OL.

Are we starting a pool on what quarter Williams will get his first of 3 holding calls?

But seriously, I think this is a move the Cowboys had to make. McGovern is not comfortable on the left side for whatever reason and has become a liability. Williams, with his experience may settle the OL down a bit. Too bad he has to face Leonard Williams his first game back. We need him to give his best effort today because with Tyron out, the entire left side of the line could crumble on some plays.

Hopefully we see the run game return! Not sure how I feel about 2 LT’s though. Nsekhe was solid last week even though he played sparingly, hopefully one of them can hold it down.

IF Zeke needs Connor Williams to run the ball he needs to hang it up.

The bottom line is Williams is a better guard than McGovern. He was only benched because of the penalties; which were getting to be a big problem. A bigger problem has been McGovern's struggles.

I'm good with this...just be sure to bring back the Hulk package because McGovern plays well in that formation. Hell, keep McGovern engaged by adding a wrinkle near the goal line where he actually can catch a pass from the TE position.

Here's hoping that Williams has gotten his technique better and kept doing mental reps so he can keep the penalties down. Although, once you get a rep with officials they police you even tighter.

Who’da thought we’d all be clamoring to have Connor Williams back in the starting lineup. Let’s hope the run game picks up a little

Of course you have to ignore that the offensive line issues occurred before Williams was benched but hey.

I say we pretend it's fixed if we can run it today.

You aren't wrong. When Tyron plays, he and Martin are studs. But, he is oft injured so that really just leaves the RG Martin as the only consistently sound player on the line.

Williams and McGovern are flawed at LG. The center position definitely needs to be thought about if the kid from Iowa is on the board when Dallas selects in April 2022. Steele played well but is still flawed. Collins has been sloppy in his return (yes, I'm aware that he may be rusty since he missed all of 2020 and almost half of this season).

I'm just hoping that continuity allows the unit to start to gell in the final games of the season.

I say his first holding penalty comes in the 1st quarter and he has two more penalties somewhere along the line.

IF Zeke needs Connor Williams to run the ball he needs to hang it up.

Then if Dak needs Connor Williams to look like an average to above average QB he needs to do the same.

Goes for both right now, neither has been looking particularly good with McGovern in there.

Also hope Connor isn't forklifted into the backfield on run and pass plays.

So when we run over the pathetic Giants -- as opposed to some of the better defensive fronts we've played -- I guess the spare undersized LG penalty machine gets all the credit.

Used to be a prime CZ whipping boy lol now dudes begging for him back in the lineup

It doesn’t make a difference. We get a little better at 2nd level blocks and we get an increase in penalties.

The Giants stink so we’re going to play well regardless.
