South Florida's Dolphins have made Connor Willimas their #1 center. The Dolphins had the worst OL in football last year. They had drafted high and early many OLmen in the past few years. They are trying to get the best 5 on the field.

How many holding calls will Connor get this year when he has to first make sure he snaps the ball correctly?

I like it. If Connor somehow excels, we know which direction the blame ratio shifts on our team.
But he couldnt snap the ball when he was tried at center here… isn’t it ?

Connor Williams only exceeded the NFL average for OL penalties in 2021.

If he can consistently snap the ball in shotgun, he'll probably become a good Center.
- It is much more common to have under-powered Centers than under-powered OGs.

He'll have a OL coach who teaches more than holding so there's that

He's been excelling every season. With just 12 sacks allowed, 11 QB hits & 8 total pressures, Williams has a career pass-blocking efficiency rate of 97.4 percent.

Among guards with at least 200 run blocking snaps, Williams graded out at the 10th-best run-blocking guard in 2021 by Pro Football Focus and 13th in the same category in 2020.

Wonder if the change of teams and position
Will help his holding issue?

I don't see that as a good move for the Dolphins. That said, maybe you can hold as a center and not get caught as much.

I wonder what his per game grade was, specifically in the playoff game vs the 49ers.

Conner Williams wasn't terrible. He was just average with a knack for getting penalized at the wrong time. If he didn't have to guard against thick strong DTs he was good, if he was able to pull and leverage against LBs or double team edges he was good.

Penalties and his lack of strength was what held him back from being a good OG. There was a reason they tried him at C last year, and it was because you can get away with a not that strong center if you have good OG. Sadly, he struggled snapping the ball, and McGovern struggled playing guard.

He will most likely be a avg to good center for Mia if he really works at it and gets better at snapping. And truthfully I think they would be happy with that. He will most likely not end up being some great player that we just didn't develop, because the truth is his tool set is just not very good. But he can get by and be decent if he's not having to go 1 on 1 with them big strong DTs play after play.

Already moving him to center seems like they signed him as a mistake imo.

Not necessarily. Think about how bad their line was that he was an upgrade. They couldn't draft an entire replacement line in a season so they had to sign someone. Maybe he'll do well for them, or at least well enough.
