Not me. I didn't like the guy back then and I still don't like him. He was a dirty player who couldn't care less if he injured a player. I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. With the number of leg injuries he caused others, some extremely serious, I see this as payback. I know that just sounds bad but that's the way it is.

The funny thing is, I'm probably not alone. Guys like John Dutton likely see it the same way. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Dobler himself sees it as payback. He was a cheap-shot guy who went out of his way to hurt others, to hell with him.

exactly thumper, God has a way of paying you back in spades for the things you do in life, when you dont have any regret or remorse for doing so like dobler injured players, shortening their career, and even worse in some occassions.

you feel sorry about him about his leg, but he has to come with grips with the injuries he caused players, but not him being a dirty player, no way you should respect a person in life like that;

you generally dont get away with things in life, generally comes back what you dish out and bites you in the rear end in spades.

Dobler is STILL a mean and nasty guy.

I wish him the best regarding his health and the worst regarding his former teams play this year.

that brings up the question who was the second dirtiest player...mine would be "dirty" waters he played for philly...I think he is dead now but I think he was another guy who was just a dirty player.

Jack Tatum was the assassin who crippled Stingley.

I remember a game where Conrad tried to cheap-shot Jethro Pugh. Pugh slammed him to the ground and the announcers were cracking up saying that is one guy Conrad shouldn't want to mess with.

I hate he is having to deal with this. As a player though I could not stand him, hell even his own teammates did not like him that much.

I work for a prosthetic limb company, he could be back up and around in four months. If it's that bad he should do it.

Yeah, he needs to do his research and bite the bullet. He'll probably be better on his prosthetic than he is now.

This is an example of why NFL players deserve their huge salaries. It's a blood sport, and their bodies pay the price Thirty knee operations and 10 artificial knees!

He's paid in pain for his nastiness.

i sure didnt respect him, he was a dirty dirty player, need i remind you hostile, he was the one that leg whipped John Dutton, and dutton had to have emergency surgery because of a busted leg vessel in his leg that he legwhipped dutton on, and he thought it was funny, and because of that, we didnt have dutton in the playoff game against the 49ers which hurt us.

i feel sorry for him about his leg, but i dont feel sorry about him nor neither do i respect him as a player, he was rotten dirty player to me,

Good point Cowboy Joe.

However, keep in mind Flozell Adams and his trip that supposedly hurt the Giants DL (Tuck?). Didn't Flo laugh or at least snicker. Some called Flo a dirty player.

Oh yeah, I know how dirty he was. The dirtiest guy I ever saw without a doubt.

I still respected him.

Same here. Like you, I respected the football player and what he gave on the field. 150% and then some. When you talk about leaving everything on the field, he best fits that description. Some guys were all football all the time...........

i did, but i dont think flo tried to intentially leg whip tuck, but slow him down and trip him, theres a difference to me intentionally leg whipping a player like dobler didnt on numerous occassions and thought it was funny

trying to harm a player intentionally

You are allowed to hate him, but the fact he doesn't want to lose his leg so he can care for his wife is OUTSTANDING. Sacrifice for the one you love...there is nothing greater than that...PERIOD!!!

Yep. He's the type of player that you loathe if he's on the other team, but love if he plays on yours.

Exactly.

Hines Ward is an example. I would love for that guy in his prime to be a Cowboy. Best blocking WR in the NFL and gives you all he has.

But because he plays for the Steelers, I don't particularly like him. I respect him though. A lot.

That NFL.com video doesn't even do Conrad's dirtiness justice. Hands down the dirtiest guy I saw play. I was pretty young but I remember watching him and my dad would always say "that guy is a dirty son of bleep" every time he saw him on tv.

I've got a frame of 25 football cards of assorted players hanging in my den. Dobler is on it...out of respect.
