Not only do I think we check the ball down entirely too much, but I just noticed something that is astonishing.

Teams have gone for it on 4th down against us 13 times, and they've made it 7 times, for a little over 50 percent.

How many times has Garrett gone for it on 4th down this year? ZERO... Not once has Garrett been willing to lay it on the line.

Last year we converted on 4th down 72.7 percent of the time. I really do think the guy is just a coward who knows his job is on the line, but isn't willing to fight for it.

I feel really bad for Romo who is playing lights out, but gets really no support from Garrett. And before someone says Garrett isn't calling the plays, this is still his offense, and he is still ultimately the person decided whether we play aggressively on offense or not.

I checked this out and you are right. Pretty amazing actually. Having Bailey boom 53 yard FG's probably factors into that some. Still a little surprising.

We also happen to be 11th in the NFL in punts. And for a direct comparison teams have punted against us 8 less times than we have against them.

Bailey has only kicked from 50+, 5 times. So, I'm not quite buying that as a legit reason. I recall quite a few times where Garrett should have gone for it, and instead punted to get us 20 yards. Yeah, it's a game of inches, but when you have the opportunity to score points rather than giving the other team the ball, you've really got to go for it rather than focusing on 20 yards.

Garrett is a scared man,he is scared of losing and that's why we are a 8-8 team every year.

Playing not to lose still..................

Garrett doesn't have that killer instinct and it shows on the field. We need a whole new offensive system installed. I don't even mind Jason staying on as HC as long as a new, different offensive coordinator is brought in with his own scheme. In my perfect world, Garrett is promoted to GM, I think that is where he would be at his best.

Many of us have been clamoring for a legitimate offensive coordinator for years.

We're the Dallas Cowboys. You don't hire a QB coach with little experience to be your offensive coordinator, and you certainly don't turn around and then make him head coach...

You hire

a) A former head coach who was an offensive mastermind but couldn't cut it as a head coach for various reasons ala Norv Turner.

b) You hire a genius head coach from College football ala Chip Kelly

c) you hire a genius position coach from a team with an extremely good offensive coordinator, and this is your last resort.

What the Cowboys have been doing with coaching personnel at certain levels has simply made no sense.

Wade Phillips had no success as a head coach, they hired him to be head coach. Who did they hire to support him, a guy who had really never coached before... Great combination... They fired Wade, and then promoted Garrett, even though Garrett's offense was just as much of the problem as Wade's defense.

We took a chance on Rob Ryan rather than getting a more decorated defensive coordinator, which I'd be more than okay with, if we had more pedigree on the offense... but we didn't...

I think the story hasn't been written on Kiffin, but it's possible that the game has simply passed him by. I think he doesn't have the tools to run his defense, so I'm not quick to suggest getting rid of him just yet. I think if things had worked out on the dline, it would have been a different defense.

Offense is the big question mark. You have Callahan who has some experience, but you don't even have him running his own system... That's highly questionable... Reminds me of trying to have Zimmer run the 3-4, and then firing him because it didn't work out. And then he turns out a great defense in Cincinnati... (using some of our cast off players...)

I've always thought the void on this team has been coaching talent. Parcells got more out of his players from 2003-2006. Wade got a lot of the players in 2007. From 2008 and on though... its been under performance non stop.

Garrett and his system is the one constant on offense. You could say Witten and Romo too, but they keep producing...

Can't argue against any of that. There is a void of coaching talent as well as a void in player talent. defense(player wise) more so than the offense. I am still holding out hope that something clicks on offense to carry this team through the playoffs. As it stands now, it is probably one and done if things stay the same. I think a lot will be pleasantly surprised come late Sunday night, Dallas is pretty much forced to come out swinging. We may not win but it will be close.
