Im a high school coach my players and I show up for summer practices and workouts and we are not payed for doing that .We do it because we want to get better !
Yeah I showed up for 6am football practices as well. At 17 you really don’t know any better and you will usually run through a brick wall for your coach. That’s attitude does not last forever, that’s why the military has to get them signed up young because after that forget about it.

I wouldn't be opposed (and I know I'm not the only one around here) to move this player for some 1st round picks next season.
Micah Parsons is the kind of player you HOPE to get 1 in every 10 times with first round picks. He is easily the best player on the defense and possibly the best player on the team. The idea that trading him as he is entering his prime is just insane. Parsons is, though very early in his career, on a HoF career track and thinking even getting multiple 1s is somehow more value than that is one of the craziest things you could suggest to me.

Basically, he showed up to film stuff for the jumbotron and his Monday Night/Sunday Night player intro and then bounced.

Brand above all else.

Essentially the same as Lamar Jackson has done in Baltimore.

"It's this time of year; it's a voluntary time," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "It's really not something that we comment on. We can't, and that's just the time of year it is. So I can't speak for anybody that's not here."

And what has he done in the 3 playoff games?? and towards end of seasons?
I watched him in the GB game and it appeared he was just going thru the motions, nor really trying at all.
That is worth anything.
I think he wants to play elsewhere, but may want to stay here because jerry will pay him more than other, but that may have changed.
I dont think he wants to be here anymore.

In the playoffs he has put up better numbers than TJ Watt, just for context. The reason being playoff level teams are usually well built on the OLine so they can usually keep a teams best pass rusher in check if there is only one of them. Its the reason that when you look across the NFL, in terms of sacks, the overwhelming majority of the production happens in a minority of the games. Sacks come in bunches because they require a matchup problem (or a young QB who doesn't have the timing down). If you trade Micah you are worse in the short term and the long term. The idea of trading a HoF trajectory player entering their prime when they are the cornerstone of your entire unit is just so bad I cannot even imagine any front office seriously considering it.

They absolutely do matter, big time. If they didn't, then teams would abolish them.

They call them "voluntary" because it is an attitude test. You decide you don't need to show up and it shows that you have the wrong attitude.

It's a test that has been around a long time.

The NFLPA is trying to abolish OTAs.

Lamar Jackson is missing OTAs

Deandre Hopkins missed OTAs to work on his brand

Laramie Tunsil is missing OTAs, because he never attends OTAs.

Christian McCaffay and Brandon Aiuyk aren’t at OTAs

Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Devante Adams, Justin Jefferson, Jaylon Johnson

Etc. You could make a heck of a roster with those guys.

Here’s my entire point, and the point to my previous post.

I don’t like Micah missing OTAs. I’d rather him be there. I’d rather him be that firey “team leader”. I’d rather him focus less on the podcast (although quite a few of these guys have podcasts). All the usual complaints with Micah are sentiments I share.

But I think it’s silly to let these things distract from the fact that Micah carving his name in NFL history books for his play on the field. I think it’s silly to let these things distract from the fact that Micah is an impact player, one who NFL head coaches, OCs and QBs have to account for every snap.

And the “trade Micah because he has a podcast and isn’t a leader and this and that” mantra I keep hearing is bizarre to me, because those are not good enough reasons for me to want to trade away an elite pass rusher.

If your best player isn't a team leader you have problems. Why should your average players show up and try hard if your star players don't?
Because people who are low on life’s skills need to give every single ounce of their being just to make it through the day. You think Free Agents can just say Oh it’s Voluntary? Come on man, they are trying to make the team.

This is a loser attitude post. He's lucky to even have the job that he has, and he is already paid well and will get paid again.
He’s lucky? How so? maybe you are lucky that in 10 years you won’t have busted up hips, knees, vertebrae, shoulders and scrambled eggs for brains.

Yea and we can see how they play when they really play the good teams. They fold when the going gets rough and they learn it from their leaders.

That is his choice not mine. And after I work in IT until I'm 69 years old I still won't make as much money as he does in three years, so what is your point?
