Convert Diggs to Safety?

Diggs is afraid to sacrifice his body...he cannot play Safety. After what I saw yesterday, maybe he can play DB on my daughters University 11's Flag Football team
I havent seen anything that makes me think hes afraid to sacrifice his body

His tackling technique is to throw is body at the receivers lower body

Which aint gonna cut it at safety…..

I’d throw my good vaseline throght the tv watching him do that over and over at safety

I'd consider it. I'd try it out in practive, over the next month, as they wait for Bland to come back. I think Diggs could be a plausible free safety with Elam and Bland at DB. And I'd find some young DBs to test out there.

I'd let Hooker and Wilson interchangeably play SS, and play near the LOS on most plays. Certainly, if they need deep coverage support, they should make sure Hooker is in the game to cover deep throws. On shorter yardage plays and defensive calls, Wilson could be the enforcer near the LOS.

Diggs may be a solid free safety, since he has a bit of length, likes to read the QBs eyes, and likes to freelance a bit back there.

Else, it's time to play Juanyeh Thomas in place of Wilson. He can't be any worse. May as well give him a shot.

Wilson simply can't play more than about 12 yards off the LOS. Every OC knows that and they will enter these games licking their chops if they see Wilson back there trying to cover ANYone (in zone or man coverage, doesn't matter).
he would suck as a saftey. he doesn't like to tackle and that's priority number one for a saftey.

A gambling safety??? Not a great idea.

I was not a fan of giving Diggs the big contract he got, but in this case, I don't blame him.

I think people are drawing way too many conclusions from his performance so far.

He's coming off major knee surgery which typically takes even the best athletes 18 months minimum to return to their pre-injury performance level.

I'm sure the Cowboys would love nothing more than to sit him out for half the season and let him continue improving.

Unfortunately, losing Bland and Revel not being ready has pushed him back faster than it should.

That said, it was clear that Eberflus' defense depends heavily on safeties covering the backend and they have not done a great job at that.

If the safeties are not able to do the job, the best move would be to bring in other safeties rather than try to push a still-recovering-from-major-knee-injury cornerback to a new position.

I think the Cowboys should be looking at other team's practice squads and also consider bringing back Gilmore if necessary.

They need help at cornerback and maybe safety positions if the current guys cannot be coached to do better.

Another option would be to consider trading for one or more of those positions.
People need to realize that Diggs isn’t 100% and he’s playing in a scheme that will show that more than it would in most others. Anyone with a football eye can see the lack of quickness, and agility he needs to perform. He needs time and hopefully he doesn’t re-injure it

What we need in the meantime is a pass rush. How did Wilson complete all those long passes? Simple, he had all day to throw the ball. Eberflus stubbornness to keep doing the same thing because he prefers it, almost got us beat. He needs to adapt the scheme to the players he has.

No. We already have issues at corner.

We need to mix in more man to man coverage.

And if Eberflus is dead set on zone, we need more blitzes to manufacture pressure.

He can't play safety when he's afraid to tackle George Kittle! I was done with him after that effort...he got paid and quit

Our current safeties btw kinda stink. Dono is just decent. Can't cover worth a lick. He's a box safety. Hooker is overrated. Can't cover. Won't hit half the time. We should be looking to upgrade that position next year. Bell isn't very good either. I said it. He's a guy. It's time we talked about the back 7. Even with Bland, we are a liability.

I wonder if Wilson knows who Cam Skattebo is?

They're still in the process of making him a zone corner. Evolution takes time.

Ummmm….no!
However, in a prevent situation, I might consider using Pickens as Dez Bryant was used at safety. Put him back deep, very deep, and once the ball is in the air let him use his natural ball tracking skills to get to the right spot and knock it down.

That covering the back end is a huge problem. How with 37 seconds and no time outs, the Giants scored on a deep pass play was one of the worst defensive melt downs I have ever seen. Over 30 years, the Cowboy defenses have shut team down until we score a TD to tie up a game or take the lead and it has to be a 90% chance the other team comes back and scores a touchdown. It is uncanny how often this happens. It is like a switch turns off. Wilson's INT to help win the game was as rare as a commercial without a Kelce.
