Awesome stuff... Irvin catches the bomb from the Squatmeister and later shows off his strength after the catch (still love how he gets in a three-point stance at the line)... Troy showing off his gun of an arm even as a teenager... Troy even showing some wheels with the near 47-yard-TD run, for those who only remember him as immobile.

Other great players include Tony Casillas, Jerome Brown, Keith Jackson, and several others.

Jeff Feagles is UM's punter... He only retired last year!

And of course Jimmy and Barry coaching.

A lot of future Cowboys Super Bowls and HOFers in this game.

For those who don't know, Jerome Brown breaks Troy's ankle in the second quarter of this game, which led to Troy's transfer to UCLA. He almost certainly wouldn't have been the #1 overall pick had he not transferred.

Anyway, pretty cool.

I counted 8 people involved in that game who had future roles with the Cowboys. Not counting assistant coaches.

Jimmy, Michael, Barry, Troy, Vinny, Highsmith, Casillas, and Alfredo Roberts.

CL, that was outstanding. Thanks for posting!

Aikman could run pretty good when he was young.

Nice run there by Aikman.
Irvin passion is so infectious. Gotta love that.

That field looked like concrete.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

Totally agree with you. The fact he was drafted #1 overall in '89 had to do with the type of NFL-like offense UCLA ran when compared with that of the sooners (wishbones and all that stuff).

What a different type of career Aikman and Testaverde had in the NFL...and I remember back in those days Testaverde was projected to be a huge star in the NFL...I think it all goes down to having not only talent as a player but to be surrounded with good coaching (Did Testaverde went #1 overall to Tampa?)

BTW great post. I enjoyed re-living the moments.

what about Derrick Shepard? Didn't he also play for us?

:laugh2:

I couldn't stop laughing when Jeff Feagles punted. How old is that dude, like 100 years old?

THAT is a cool video.

Irvin was a beast even as a freshman. I can't stop saying "Where is the safety man!?!" :D

You've out done yourself, CL. Thanks for the share!! Man. Forget how old Feagles is..............Someone stick a fork in me. ;)
