And possibly a condemnation of Wade's.

“We did like 32 plays last night, and he’s like, 'You know what, we’re just getting into things,’ and I looked at him like, ’Really?’ ” Ware said. “That’s what we had [all of] last year.”

And another one:

“I saw the offensive playbook and I thought it was big, but we have three. I was overwhelmed with it,” Ware said. “I was like, 'What are we doing?’ But it’s all about the same stuff, just changing the looks.”

You didn't have a complex scheme under Wade because anytime Wade tried anything not vanilla you guys had all kinds of break downs against the pass.

Even Jay Cutler knew our plays, formations, and what Wade was doing.

I'm hopeful that Ryan can some how get these guys to flurish in a more complex scheme.

Ummmm....no it's because Wade doesn't demand his players practice hard and practice right......it's been his M.O everywhere....eventually he gets tuned out and loses his players.

Wade's scheme is vanilla and simplified. It's based on winning the matchups, usually the 1 on 1 battles in the trenches. He'll call some aggressive blitzes and send 2 extra defenders but they can be predictable. If guys can shed blockers and win those matchups, his scheme looks great...like in San Diego and 2007/2009 here.

“The week is so exciting, but right now I feel like I’m a rookie again,” James said. “I have three different playbooks. I’m carrying a luggage bag around. You won’t be able to know what defense we’re in. We had gotten to that point where people were just knowing what was going on. Now it’s very interesting.”

The question is .. will the Cowboys PLAYERS know what defense they're in? :D

It seems to me that the front seven didn't really have any confusion problems. Most of the confusion was in the secondary.

But the secondary didn't have those problems the previous year. Hmm ... I wonder what the difference could be? :)

Amen, he was the same in SD although he had Shott to force a little dicipline.

Wasn't Bradie James the guy who was complaining every time Wade tried to be more exotic? I seem to remember him telling Wade to just call the basic stuff because the D was making too many mistakes with anything complicated. If this is the case expect to see Bradie James on the bench more because I doubt that Rob Ryan will tailor his defense to Bradie James' intellect.

out of this..........we'll find a new Carp' to carp on.

Hopefully with the new boss around the stressing of knowing your responsibility and the formations will be so implanted they cannot forget it.

Yea that's because of the lack of attention and focus that the sorry arse HC didn't demand from the players. WP was a joke and players did what they wanted to do in practice. His football team was mentally and physically out of shape last year. That all falls on the HC because he allowed that crap to take place.. THAT WON'T BE THE CASE UNDER JG.....

Even when Big Bill was here....he had to dumb down the playbook......

Im hoping Rob can teach these guys .......but the players need to execute....no more excuses

Exactly. This quote scares the crap out if me. If our players weren't so dumb I'd be more excited.

I disagree I think Wade tried anything and everything a coach could do to get these guys to pull their heads out but in the end the players were too dumb to handle complexity and wanted to quit mid-season.

We really only had one defensive play last year, that predictable brooking up the middle blitz.
