Cooper Rush

I'm a fan of Cooper, but, you need to have a quick release if you lack arm strength to be a good starter

The media driven thing about him lacking arm strength seems overstated to me. Look with discerning eyes and tell me it's 100% true. I'm highly skeptical that it is. Let's see enough of him to be adequately convinced before replacing media-driven BS with fact. I believe there's more to be had than advertised. If he's tried and found guilty of inadequacy, I'll gladly relent.

Cooper Rush is the "chosen one" by the Dak attackers. lol
Cowboys history is full of examples of fans being enamored with a pedestrian backup languishing on the bench just waiting for their lucky break to emerge as the next QB savior.

Anyone remember these guys?...all at one time “heroes in waiting”...Glenn Carano, Steve Pueller, Kevin Sweeney, Steve Walsh, or Stephen Magee? I’m sure they would have all made the ROH if they only had the chance.

It's been said any team's most popular player is the backup QB, and I think there is truth to that, at least for any team in which the starting QB isn't an unquestioned standout.

By the way, you left off Gary Hogeboom. I remember his first start. Actually, not really. I missed it. It was a night game, we had a keg we had been drinking on all day, and I just didn't last long enough to watch the game. Hogeboom had a big game.

Of course, both Staubach and Romo were "heroes in waiting" as well, but they actually produced when their time came.

How could I forget Gary Hogeboom! Great example! Remember when Landry announced he was naming Hogeboom to start a game and accidentally said Pozderac? Lol!

Must have had false starts on the mind.

That’s funny you think media is driving a narrative on his arm stength...

I’ve watched a ton of throws last year in preseason and plenty in training camp. Arm strength can be improved with proper mechanics. Romo lacked arm strength but improved it over his career but he always had a super fast release to compensate.

Yeah, because that's how it worked with Romo when he got injured and Dak led the team to the playoffs.

Didn't it ...?
Dude the only reason Romo lost his job is his back was done. The Cowboys dam sure wanted to play him. You got that! The sickening thing is the Cowboys actually thought Romo was going to be the QB when they drafted Zeke instead of moving up and securing Wentz. They stuck with Romo too long and yes they will make the mistake of sticking with Dak too long.

better in the touch department. I haven't seen him try to strong arm any throws. In preseason games he looks accurate, but in real games it has yet to be seen. Last game last year would have been a good indication of his success or failure. But again he would have been play against 2nd stringers and 3rd stringers like Dak was.
Dak sure didn’t look too good against those 2nd and 3rd string players. It would of been nice to see someone else in there.

Go follow another team.

First you have to have 2 to make a trade, not only that Wentz has a bum knee and Dak has outperformed him since both entered the league. Can't make plays when you are sitting on the bench

I don't know what media are driving anything about Cooper Rush (none that I've seen), but having seen the guy play in college he had a noodle arm then and he has one now. According to his draft profile, I'm not alone:

Lollipop arm strength allows ball to hang in air too long. Defensive backs with twitch have time to dart into passing lane and make interceptions despite a good read by quarterback. Struggles to challenge tight windows in middle of the field. Could be limited to timing-based passing attacks. Unable to make sudden getaways from pocket due to lack of athleticism. Strong pocket push from interior short circuits his plans.

SOURCES TELL US

"He played in the MAC, not the SEC. If he made some of those throws against NFL cornerbacks and safeties they turn into pick-sixes. He's a great kid, he's smart, but he falls below the minimum standard for arm strength." - Area scout for AFC team
