Cooper Taylor

-Also today,20 NFL teams were at the Richmond Pro Day. Safety Cooper Taylor ran a 4.45 with a 36.5 vertical jump, impressive for a 6’4, 228 pound strong safety.

He is big enough to be a Linebacker in Kiffin's system.

Tall safeties never seem very fluid in coverage. OLB conversion at that size?

Here is what Jerry Jones thinks about this prospect:

"Well, guys with his length (and I think you've all heard me say this plenty of times before), are players who can fit in this system, relative to Kiffin and some of the new coaches we've brought in here. At times though, they don't fit into a new system if they aren't what I like to call 'Sunday players'. A shorter player can play that system in relation to some of the veteran's that may or may not be being brought back from last year and some of the holdovers that could feasibly be recovering from time in the training room. So, with a 'friendly' scheme on that side of the ball and a simplistic view of how things can happen between the lines on Sundays and in practice, what you will find is that the Cowboys try to find players who are like that normally, but in recent times we have tried to value length. But not necessarily in this scheme with these new coaches... particularly with the college guy we have in here replacing Jimmy Robinson."

"So, that is probably what we will try to work out on draft day."

OK, Jerry really didn't say that... but it probably makes about as much sense as what he would say.

Is an actual electronic timing setup used at pro days? Or is it 14 different stop watches?

Anyone know how well he can cover? Hips fluid? Did Dal attend?

Some have said he is a little stiff in the hips, but he has agility and can cover TEs and RBs. I think his ball instincts are quite good, he could be a steal if he is used right.

Yeah there is no way to hold all of the pro-days to a universal stand, surfaces can vary. Even an average of hand times is not good enough when you have different people all the time.

Lol! I bought it, hook, line, sinker up until I saw the word 'feasibly,' and then I thought "that doesn't sound like a Jerry word," and I figured out what you did there. This both cracks me up, and makes me kind of sad.

Trained sprinters typically have between .140 and .190 for their reaction times. Anything under .100 is considered a false start.

I always add .2 seconds for hand times.

I was thinking OLB more than Safety.

Glad you are keeping track of my pet cats? First Amerson now Taylor.

I think it was a mistake not converting him to a wr from day 1.

****** walker, you beat me to this one  :D .....I was going to post a new mock with UDFAs, and he was definitely on my UDFA list. I actually have 5 safeties on the list

FS - Ben Ericksen - Illinois St.
FS - Ray Polk - Colorado
FS - Dexter McCoil - Tulsa (my least fave of the 5)
SS - Cooper Taylor - Richmond
SS - Orhion Johnson - tOSU
