In my experience, people who seek positions of authority or power be it cops or politicians or televangelists or whatever all have the idea they can make the world a better place if only everyone would listen to them. I don't doubt their good intentions, but the road to Hell is paved with those - or as I heard a proverb "every Man is given the key to Heaven, but the same key unlocks the gates of Hell."

Any cop will do his job as best he can - arresting criminals, etc. Most of them will also become arrogant pricks if you have the audacity to question their motives. Human nature is what it is, sad but true. I just try to be as compassionate as I can for others, since we're all here on Earth together, and there is no place else to go at least in this lifetime...

I'm still shocked by the lack of common sense then Officer Robert Powell exibited.

I also agree with all the others who said he resigned before getting fired.

Ryan Moats had the class to accept this officer's apology. That's good enough for me!

This guy has kids..hope he has learned a lesson and will be able to pick up his life and be more understanding towards other. If he does that it's a good thing.

And kudos to the Moats family and Ryan for conducting himself like a gentleman and being an upstanding guy. Fan of that guy's for life although I cannot stand the Texans!

Like I said they aren't all bad.

But driving around all day doing nothing but handing out bogus tickets to drivers on the road instead of solving crimes is what bugs me.

And on top of that being a jerk.

Why should anyone answer a cop yes sir or no sir? Why? And if you don't its considered disrespectful and enhances your chances of getting a ticket.

If someone breaks into your home and steals something now days cops dont have the time to find your belongings but they do have all the time in the world to post up somewhere and look at their radar all day.

My problem is 90% of a cops job is harrassing good people and 10% actually solving real problems.

You realize that is not patrols job solving crimes. Shows you have no concept how police work they have division including most that have a traffic division guess what there job is to enforce traffic laws and make the city money. It is not the cops fault he has to do a job if you want to ***** about tickets you need to look else where most cops I know hate writing tickets there are a few exceptions.

The cops you see in the car are the ones that are suppose to respond to crimes drive around make a presence and write tickets depending on there assignments. The solving cases is down by another division. The ones that looks for burglary etc spend a lot of times in pawn shops tracing down guys.



Buy the way look no further than your elected officials on why they want cops to write lots of tickets and guess why these Red Light cameras in Texas have been installed it is not about safety it is all about money
