So I've joined the modern era with a DVR box from Time Warner. What I'd like is some info on how to pull the info off the dvr so that I could copy it to a dvd or something? Anybody that can give me an easy to follow instruction would be appreciated. Also if I need to pick up any hardware to complete the process let me know that as well.

Pretty sure you can't just take from the DVR.

Gonna need a capture card just as if you didn't have a DVR.

Even though there are USB ports, I'm pretty sure they aren't usable.

I have an Archos portable media player and I record from my DVR to that device via the RCA jacks. The media player fits into a cradle that comes with the media player. The catch is that I can only get it to record while the TV is on. I just set the DVR to play and the media player will record as much as I want. I imagine you could export from the media player as well, but I haven't spent much time on that issue. If you have a device that can record onto a DVD in real time, you could do it.
