The Journal Sentinel asked 16 personnel people to list their top five wide receivers and top four tight ends. At wide receiver, a first-place vote was worth five points, a second was worth four and so on.
Patterson (seven firsts) led with 62 points, followed by Austin, 60 (six firsts); Allen, 40 (one first); Woods, 25; DeAndre Hopkins, 24 (one first); Hunter, 16; Terrance Williams, five; and Stedman Bailey and Quinton Patton, each four.

Lists sound about right to me.

Cordarrelle Patterson has the combination of Size, Power, and Speed. Kid may seems childish or perceived to be dumb as a box of rocks but when it comes to making plays onthe football field the kid delivers. First time I seen CP play against NC State, first response was Julio Jones

Tavon Austin isn't far from behind him and I'm a big fan of speed because its the few things you can't teach, but with his size I can see durability becoming an issue with Tavon.

Austin is head and shoulders above Patterson. Patterson has only played 1 year of Division 1 football and he really only had one huge game. It's going to take him 2-3 years to get going. Austin on the other hand has produced his entire career. He is smaller but he rarely misses a game. Austin is a difference maker. If he was on the board at 18 and both Warmack and Cooper were gone I'd be fine with Dallas taking him.

No comparison to me. Austin is hands down the better WR at this stage IMO.

Paired with Claiborne they would barely break double digits.

How good a player is right now is only part of it. I'm sure Patterson enormous upside got him a lot of votes.
I think neither will be be the best in class when we review this in 3-4 years.
There are a bunch of good ones this year.

Yeah, I hear you. I still like Austin better. If you're a team that wants help right away then Patterson is not your guy. He probably will factor in as a punt/kick returner early on and that's it. Austin has a freakish combo of speed and quickness.... sort of like Wes Welker with 4.3 speed. To me, he's one of the elite talents in this entire draft.

It appears that the media/fans generally like Austin better but that NFL people like Patterson better.

I think one of the agents said they gave Austin the playbook during the visit and he digested the contents incredibly quickly. I've heard he has high football IQ on the field knowing when to settle down in zones and whatnot. This is usually where young WRs struggle most - the mental side of the position and getting on the same page as the QB.
