I bought it on e-bay and it came yesterday. I finished it this morning.

I don't think it's as good as Blood Meridian, but it was a very interesting book. McCarthy is tough to read sometimes because he doesn't use some punctuation, but he writes so well that you almost don't care.

If you haven't read it, I recommend it.

Cool. I really liked the movie and will move onto the book, because of it.
I take it you've seen the flick...?

Hos, just watched the movie the other night. I haven't read th ebook so I don't know if it mimics the movie at all. Thought it was ok but had some questions:

1) Why didn't Lou Allen just take off with his wife after he found the tracker in money case? I had trouble rationalizing that one.

2) What was with the Sheriff's character? I'm interested to see how much more developed he is in the book vs. the movie. I know they were trying to put across that he was too old to be doing that job anymore but after the movie, you're left wondering why he was ever involved in the story the way he was.

I actually haven't seen the movie yet. I usually read a book before I see the movie.

In the book he is described as a sniper from Viet Nam who basically thought he was good enough to deal with it and not worry forever about being hunted.

I kept saying I would handle it differently too.

His story in he book is about his own struggles for self worth and adequacy. He actually worries that with the rising violence of the drug industry that the only reason he is still alive is because they don't fear him at all. It tells about how he even disagrees with a military commendation he received.
