Cornerback Peterson might enter NFL draft
By Glenn Guilbeau • Gannett Louisiana • November 17, 2010

-- It has been such a given since even before the 2010 season started that junior cornerback Patrick Peterson would enter the NFL Draft a year early.

Some LSU players think Peterson should take part in Senior Day for the Tigers during Saturday's home season finale.
"Patrick's going to be at our senior day, we believe," LSU senior middle linebacker Kelvin Sheppard cracked. "Everybody who's anybody says he's going to be a top five pick."

So far, there are no plans to have Peterson walk out with the 15 seniors who will be in their last home game when the No. 5 Tigers (9-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) host Ole Miss (4-6, 1-5 SEC) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on CBS.
"I don't think that's a secret," LSU tailback Stevan Ridley said. "Everybody knows he's going pro." Peterson, a 6-foot-1, 222-pound junior from Pompano Beach, Fla., is already considered the best at his position in the country.
"There is no better cornerback in college football, and to be honest, it's not even close," NFL Draft expert Mike Detillier said. "I see him as a top five or six pick at best and definitely a top 10 pick. He is the best cover corner out of the SEC since Champ Bailey."
