Has anyone thought about the fact that practicing against Ryans Defense everyday could erase the only ? mark that people pose about Romo. He cant deal or handle a lot of defensive pressure. What can anyone throw at him that he wont be able to handle. No one knows where a ryan coached defense is going to bring the pressure. I personally think this can be one of the biggest steps that can push Romo to to 5 status. (I personally would only take brady, manning, and ? rogers in front of him anywaySo what shoot me. I take romo over ryan, rivers and brees and rothlisberger.) but im talking consensus top 5.

We will see but he does not have the best pocket awareness. The good QB's recognize the defense, find the open man quickly and have that clock in their heads. He also doesn't seem to feel the pressure as well as some.

The thing about a Ryan defense is it not only puts pressure on the QB, it puts pressure on the WR to adjust his route, puts pressure on the OLine to figure out who is coming, puts pressure on the RBs to pickup the unblocked blitzer. The entire offense needs to be in sync for them to have success against pressure defenses.

Don't think that was ever really a flaw..but it will certainly help. He's not going to be surprised by anything he sees after facing a Ryan D.

Romo was the NFL's highest-rated quarterback against the blitz last season.

are you forgetting that up until last year, wades defense was one of the best at getting pressure on the QB

His biggest flaw, as pointed out by Couch Scout last year I believe, is that he tends to leave the ball slightly behind on routes that are dominated by a lateral rather than vertical nature, i.e. he has problems with quick slants and short crossing routes.

Sadly, that is rather ironic .. :(

I think he's saying that Ryan's defense is going to somehow give Tony stronger collarbones.

um.. I disagree with this completely.. Romo shows on a consistent basis an almost 6th sense to feel the pressure..

Someone please remind me of the great defenses Ryan has coached first off, I forget. Secondly, I'm pretty sure that Romo has been pretty good with pressure, I just want Romo to make quicker reads and protect the ball, especially in the red zone.

I put flaw in quotes because I dont feel its a flaw either. A lot of criticism I hear is that he cant deal with a lot of pressure and the example used is the Vikings playoff game, or the 44 to 6 eagles game.

I think the criticism is extreme, but you can never have too much practice against extreme pressure. Romo is ice water when he has time, so practice with Ryans defense can only help his already very good skill set. Someone mentioned it before. The oline should improve, the rbs should pick up blitzes better, therefore Romo "faults" will look better in the eyes of critics as well.

what??? that is one of Romo's best strengths is pocket awareness, sensing pressure, and getting ball out VERY quickly.

The problem is our line has been so bad that he has had to constantly fling under pressure and still done a good job at that. Correcting our line was one reason for drafting Smith. Give Romo just a little more time and he will tear a defense apart.

This doesn't really support the notion that playing against pressure is one of his better qualities.

did you read the charts? he is top 5 in completion % under pressure, he is #3 in avoiding sack under pressure, his td to int ration under pressure is top 5, although they grade him at #12 under pressure - he has top 5 qb rating under pressure at 80

think that link did a good job at proving that point
