Costa graded out best vs Miami...

I didn't hear Paul Soliai at all thursday. That was the key Macthup in the trenches. I'm glad costa held his own, because I thought Soliai might be able to overpower him.

costa made the dolphins NT invisible...:p:

but i think costa struggle with the quicker guys.

Who will line up vs costa sunday? Dan williams, dockett?

Well I hope that Costa can really start showing us something, cause it is much needed from his spot. I don't want to go into the draft next year thinking about taking a center in the first round, as I don't think Jerry would do it anyway.

Just cause we took a young talented OT (and maybe future franchise LT) in the first round last year, doesn't mean Jerry will go as far as to take center in the first round.

I, for one, don't think that will happen. Second or third round maybe, but not the first, we have too many other needs.

So in this realm, I have to leave out hope for Costa, although he hasn't shown much in the past, hopefully he can get good enough to where we don't need to spend a 1st rounder to replace him.

He's been average this year.

Average isn't too bad for a 2nd year UDFA.

He's been serviceable. We have bigger needs.

Is this 4 or 5 in a row? Aw who cares, it's progress.

Actually he was the only one in postive territory per this article...

After starting out slowly he seems to have improved over the last few games.

I think a few things have helped:

1) Having Montrae Holland next to him instead of an up-and-down rookie.

2) DeMarco Murray's running. (Mutually beneficial)

3) The blocking scheme being altered some to take advantage of what our linemen do best.

The interesting thing to me is that we expect so much out of an UDFA in his second year after a lockout, yet we don't expect it out of any other player in any other position on this football team.

Noone else on this football team is in the same position as Costa. We didn't throw Free, Romo, or Miles out there this early in their development, yet we expect so much from Costa so early.

While I'm not exactly a Costa fan, I do feel his pain. We put him in a bad position, all he can do is make the most out of it.

What a running back does shouldn't have any effect on a lineman's grade. If it does, then the grading isn't being done properly.

The other thing is that Costa was hurt early in the season.

This is why I don't give the time of day to all these numbers crunchers.

My trained eyes tell me Phil Costa sucks. He's not an NFL starting talent. Never will be.

But feel free to keep tapping on that calculator until we upgrade the position in the offseason.

Didn't mean that. Just giving reasons why Costa's play is improving.

he had a tough day in the Commander game against Coefield and the backup

He did play better in the 2nd half of that game and he's been improving as of late but he is still the weak link on the Oline IMO. Him or Kosier depending on their particular assignments

Like Romo's ribs that does tend to be forgotten.

Well I wouldn't call Kosier, Costa, or Holland a strength. I would say that Costa is probably the weakest link of the 3, but unlike the other 2, he does have at least a chance to improve.
