our OL did great tonight.

costa was in.

maybe time is needed after all.

They looked like the best O line in the league today and we know they aren't that.

Basically show me again or it means nothing.

In time this game might be more about what the ravens can not do.

unfortunately.

Not sold yet the Oline played better because of Costa. It started to play better against the Bears and the Ravens' defense is ranked 23 for a reason

After today, the Ravens rush D is 26th in the league.

Sadly, Theebs is right, says more about Baltimore. Six pre snap penalties from the O line tells me they aren't there yet.

The illegal shifts and what not were not all on the OL. I think Free has a FS and that was it.

i watched Costa a ton and after watching Cook play like a sieve it was nice watching a linemen blow guys off the ball or at least stone them most plays.

They out-physicaled the Ravens who had multiple front 7 guys coming off the field.

Looks like Costa handled Ngata really well who easily tied for the best NT with J Smith.

The offensive line played much better, I'm actually proud of them.

They finally played a decent game and yet they still find a way to lose. This team rotates problems week in week out like a diabetic rotates injection sites!

The Panthers are pitiful on defense too, so it probably won't mean much.

I'm pleased by how far the O-line has come. I remember in preseason Coach Callahan praised Costa's work ethic. Apparently that has paid off. Last year he looked like a scrub who didn't belong in the NFL except in a desperate 3rd string position. Tonight he looked like a real center.

That's my stance as well. Ravens defense hasn't been great but it hasn't been this bad. Callahan is a good offensive line coach. I didn't expect them to be bad forever. Maybe we took the offensive line turnover and injuries for granted.

Did you have ANY faith in this offensive line blocking even a pitiful defense though?

There were 3 false starts and 3 holding penalties on the o line tonight. Who else can the be on?

The illusion that the o line played well is what bogs down the analysis of this team and it's been that way for a long time (for every team really).

This is a big part of why we overrate certain players, we analyze them as great when playing weak opponents, not against the best.

That's what we lack, players who can play with the best of the best, and we only have 5 or 6 players who are on that level.

Also, it's not the effort that I question, it's the basic ability. I don't mind finding silver linings, but I want to make sure I'm not over looking poor play and getting my hope up too much and have poor execution, poor preparation, poor planning and poor execution get me down again.

This oline has played well for two consecutive games now, they'll dominate Carolina.

So now the Ravens suck?

The Parnell's penalty was a bad call but the tackles did have some issues.

At the same time they allowed only 1 sack and gave Romo a clean pocket but also averaged over 6 YPC and that was with their 3rd back in for half of the game.

I will not disagree that you can make a complete evaluation based on one game but you cannot evaluate the Ravens off of one game either. It seems to me that you want to look at their performance against the Chiefs and ignore their work against NE or Philadelphia. Just like you want to ignore how they did against a very good Bears front.

We dominated the LOS. That means something to me.

And the best of the best 'analysis' is just a nonsense generalization. Can Our interior OL block Ngata? Yeah they can. Now let's see how they do against Carolina.

The OL play was the biggest takeaway today. Hopefully we can build upon this over the course of the season.

Costa had the best game of his career. The line played much better today. This is the only game that they played well this year. My concern is that Jerry will look at a game like this and think the problem is solved. It will happen with the fanbase as well. If Jerry does this, the line will go another year without adding some much-needed talent. All Jerry needs is an excuse to use more resources on the sexy positions.

When and if they can play like this week in and week out, it will make a big difference. In no way will I be happy with an average line. I want a line that is a strength instead of a liability.

Go rewatch the Detroit game from last year and the Bears game from this year and come back again.
