Could Canady become the surprise slot starter?

Most of us forget about Canady as he was a covid opt out last season. He always has been a high level special teamer, but he does have experience both inside/outside as a corner. Last few practices he got an opportunity to play with the starters and he was one of the standout performers. Don't think Lewis roster spot is in trouble, but its something to watch.

I don't see any scenario where Lewis and Brown are healthy and Canady plays regular snaps over them.

Actually I think there is a lot of competition in the secondary this year compared to many previous seasons.
Not saying they are great, but there is at least competition for some depth. How good will that be, well, we need to see that on the field.

Diggs a starter, competition for the other side as the starter. Then competition in the slot.
This is a good problem to have. But as I said, how good are they really. I think better than we have for a long time.

I think you will see him play a lot in the first preseason game. Right now, he is one of the expendable players. Maybe he plays well. We will see. I don’t see him as starter potential but I could be wrong.

Canady is a interesting case. I wonder about him we all sort of assume he's the odd man out...let's not forget that just a year ago they liked him enough to bring him in as a free agent. He's still with the team. I haven't heard bad things about him. Could be a sleeper.

Canady was supposed to be a very good ST's player. Goodwin is a very good ST's player.
The difference is, Goodwin looks lost at times while playing CB. Canady does not look lost. He could replace Goodwin if they are about equal in ST's play.

With the players competing at the other CB starting position, I agree, Canady is not a starter over them.

they just signed that other Brown guy correct 2 yr deal, lock correct?

thats 6 that are close to locks here i would imagine that all they carry

i doubt cannady make sit unless he shows out so much they have to make a tough cut somewhere else..

he's been a consistent stand-out reading all the reports and practice notes.
if he plays well on special teams,he'll make the 53 i think.

Ehhh....I wouldn't call either Brown a lock honestly.....They can easily eat that 2 year contract if need be.

There's a few guys like Canady, Robinson, and Israel that could push CJ Goodwin for his special teams spot if they're just as productive on ST and can do more in the defensive backfield. But that seems like the best pathway for Canady.

I think there's an outside chance if Joseph and Wright have a strong preseason Brown could be the odd man out if the rest offer more on special teams. But Browns experience and dead cap doesn't make that as likely this season.

lets get this straight AB is a lot better then carrol regardless what you think, he was new like Haha and expendable..

Ok you kind of came in here to defend AB out of nowhere lol.....that wasn't even specifically about AB.....the poster I replied to said there were two Browns.....and said that we re-signed the other Brown to a 2 year deal. I brought up Carroll because it shows they have no issue with cutting their free agent that they signed to a multi-year deal with. Had really nothing to do with AB so I'm kind of confused there.....
