I must have missed all your sterling contributions to discussions - raising the bar. I'll keep an eye out.

Please no. I just think you need a better premise to a thread. Favre is a Green Bay Packer. We can't just magically ask him to be a Dallas Cowboy and save us.

First off, the post was a "what if"....I thank those for climbing on board and misreading what was meant or jumping on a spelling error!! I am not trading for Favre, nor was I planning on him being our Qb opening day etc!! This was just a thought regarding a worse case scenario, a season ending injury to Romo, how it could play out. If Dallas was sitting at 7-2, 8-3, appearing to be the NFC clear cut favorite, would we play out the string with Brad Johnson or could "Favre" be called for help??? I just thought if was a fun thought. Sorry for those who read it differently!! Ciao!!!

Apparently you are again not understanding me.

I am by far Brett Favre's biggest fan on this forum. When Green Bay was speculated to be dangling him in a trade a couple of years ago, I was all over it. Ask anyone here who knows me.

You say, "I am not trading for Favre." Then explain to me how you are going to get him because that is the ONLY way that you can. He is the property of the Green Bay Packers. The fact that he has announced his retirement does NOT release him from that obligation. It is not like Drew Bledsoe who was released by the Cowboys and then decided to retire. Anyone can go talk him out of retirement and acquire his services. He is a Free Agent. Favre is NOT. Capice?

So again, you have to be advocating trading something to acquire him and I don't see the sense of trading for someone who has expressed a desire to retire from the game. By the time this team is 7-2 or 8-3 the trade deadline would have passed and he wouldn't be available. To acquire him it would require us to trade something to Green Bay before the trade deadline. There is no other way to accomplish what you propose.

The thought of having Favre in a Cowboys uniform would be very fun for me. I'm not saying it wouldn't. I am saying it is not a well thought out scenario the way you presented it. The ONLY reason I am saying that is because you do not appear to grasp the fact that to acquire him absolutely requires we trade for him and you say you are not advocating that. It must be magic then.

Adam is the person to ask for that, not me. I can get you within a ballpark figure on some contracts. That's about the best you cna hope for asking me this.

No matter what Farve said in his retirement speech .... He would never play for the Cowboys.

He knows how that would kill the people in Green Bay and he would not want to tarnish his legacy.

In keeping with the spirit of this thread... If Barber goes down we can bring back Smith at least there wouldn't be a trade needed:D

Packers are now between 35 and 36 million under the cap with FAvres retirement. It might as well be 10 dollars or 100 million because Ted Thompson will not spend it on free agency.

He might want to keep about 16 million in reserve tho for when (notice I did not say if) Aaron Rodgers goes down in pre-season or training camp. Maybe they could be like hte Yankees did with Clemens and get FAvre to come back for 1 million per game.

Sorry to bring it up, didnt know we would get all technical about it. I get it Favre is off limits unless the Pack allow it to happen. I was just trying to have a little fun. Thanks for the clarification on retired players. By the way did anyone know the deal with Junior Seau?? Was he retired, released. I had thought he retired from SD, then Fins signed him later. Fins released him and NE picked him up. Whatever....

If a player is an Unrestricted Free Agent when they "retire" as Junior was then he is free to sign with any team. Same with Drew Bledsoe as I already pointed out.

As for the "getting all technical" part, you can't be serious. Here's a challenge for you, go to any forum for any team and post that Favre was one of the best 1st round draft choices ever. See how long it takes before someone tells you he was a 2nd round Draft pick. When someone corrects you, they aren't doing it to "get all technical" they are trying to share info that you can store up and use. I had no intention of destroying your "fun."

YES!!!!

Finally a Brett Favre like QB with the Brett Favre like arm to Dallas.

I am not wishing for it by any means but I would love watching it.

But then again.... just as Aikman in a Kansas City uniform and Marino in a Vikings uniform, Favre with a Star would be weird.

Lets play what if.....we start off year 7-2, Romo goes down, everything pointing to a SB run on the NFC. Now we are faced with playing BJ, due we place a call to Mississippi for a guy named Brett??? After hearing of his retirement and people debating if that was really it, I thought about that Kosar deal of the past.... Could Favre be called upon come to be the guy who could lead us if that happened??? Hmmmm...

Just a thought of what if????

You don't have to come up with a hypethetical...
Just admit that you have more than a man-crush on the dude.
I'm glad he's gone, I can't take anymore of the gushing over him.

If you're not a Cowboy, you're nobody!!!
