Could Jerry follow Al's lead?

Since everybody is lookin for Big Bill's exit,could Jerry Jones follow his friends lead and rehire Jimmy Jonhson as Al Davis did this off season with the rehiring of Art Shell?

What do you guys think,Al realized that he made a mistake could Jerry do the same?

The odds are against Jimmy ever coming back to coaching. Unlike Parcells who is addicted to the game and can't stay away, Jimmy is loving life too much away from the game.

I think there are major differences in comparing both scenarios. Jimmy was admittedly burned out and wanted to go home. Shell wanted to continue coaching. Jimmy still wants to stay in the Florida Keys. Shell still wants to coach.:raiduhs:

Never say never...but...ya just don't get the sense that Jimmy "needs" coaching in his life.

Remember Jimmy Johnson favors a different kind of offense and defensive scheme. We've got the players who best suit a 3-4 defense and doubt Johnson interested in coming back and doubt Jerry Jones wants to waste time rebuilding again while we move back to schemes Johnson would want.

The next coach of the Cowboys after Parcells calls it quits (and I believe Parcells will be here thru 2007) will be someone from the Parcells-Belicheck family tree who would play the same offense and defensive schemes.

Don't believe it will be Zimmer either. Cowboys made no effort to stop him from meeting with Rams re their head coaching job. If they believed Zimmer was their man, they would have asked him not to follow thru on that meeting, etc. I think Parcells likes Zimmer but doesn't always like his schemes. The addition of Hatcher, another DE who has potential to get to the QB, reinforces my belief that Parcells intends to ensure we get pressure on the QB, including various blitzing schemes.

Every year Johnson's name gets thrown out into the possible coaching pool, and every year Johnson vehemently insists that his coaching days are over. I have seen or heard nothing that makes me feel otherwise.

Further - no way would he come back to our team in it's current incarnation - this roster is as far from a Johnson style roster as Theisman is from entertaining.

exactly, Jimmy J likes smaller, faster guys on D, not to mention he prefers the 4-3 D which we won't be going back to in awhile, maybe forever

Jimmy was great in the pre cap days. He sucked in Miami. Get over it Jimmy isn't coming back.

Whether Jimmy comes back or not, it will be much easier this time around for Jerry to get a good coach. Working with Bill so well and having a roster stocked with young talent will make this job very desirable. Previous to Bill, Jerry was looked at as a overbearing owner who had a team that had cap problems and horrible talent.

Al never rehired Jimmy.

I doubt Jimmy would stoop so low as to come back to the boys. When he left, he was humiliated by Jerry. Hes never coming back.
