Could. Might. Hopefully. Potentially

"But so far, La'el Collins hasn't played nearly as well as Doug Free"

I have to take issue with this comment. Admittedly, Collins had some early season struggles, but he is, was, and will be better than what we were getting from Doug Free. And all signs point to steady improvement and progression last season that should carry over into this year.

Its the same scenario now at safety as it was the day Woody retired. So its been like at least 16 years since we had ANYONE of the skill level of he.

Tyron became a liability even when he was giving it a go with his bad back..then his knee...THEN came the dumpster fire we call Chazzy Green. The human turnstile. BTW..I don't think Green will be on the team come training camp..he can't even stay hydrated..or in condition. Fat and lazy are the worst things you can be at this level.

Things seem really straightforward to me this year. Not at all clear or predictable, but straightforward:

If Tyron is fine, the line will be fine and the offense will be somewhere between good and great. If Tyron isn't fine, we're done.
The defense hinges on our linebackers' aggregate health and quality. I have no idea what to expect there, and neither does anyone else.

We'll only be serious contenders if we get good news on the above two items AND we have positive surprises in the passing game. No idea where those will come from, meaning that I think several different guys have a small chance of breaking out.

You leave Chaz alone. You saw he got carted off the field. He needed a IV cause he was giving you his all. Working on his craft for you man. Lol. Note the sarcasm.

Seriously there is a reason he is still on the team. They seem to have some more depth now. So he may get cut. Just don’t let him take over for Smith.

Did you see Free play his last 2 years? Dude was awful. Collins is already better than that version and will be better than Free at his peak in another year
Free was getting Romo killed down the stretch.

People complain about our WRs but I don't see them as a problem at all. They are probably better right now than they were last year. I'm being dead serious.

OLine
Doug Free allowed 9 sacks his final season.

In 2014 he was drastically outplayed by his backup.

La'el was not bad in 2017. For 3 quarters he shut down Von Miller. Miller only had success once the Cowboys had to pass on every snap.

The primary issue with the OLine in 2017 was Tyron's back injury. If you look at Dak's stats when both Tyron and Martin were playing vs not, it was a drastic difference.

.
Romo's final injury was result of Free getting beaten so bad that his man (Avril) came from his side all the way over to make the play.
Immediately after the snap, Avril exploded past Free, Zeke picked up the left t side blitz, so Romo stepped forward and went to the open area on the opposite (left) side of Free to find a safe spot to go down...yet Free's man got such a huge jump, he still made the fatal play from behind while Romo was going down.

That wasn't the only time either.
he was getting demolished the 2nd half of that 2014 Green Bay playoff game.
And so many more

1-There is no perfect team and never will be.
2-If they play as a team they can achieve anything they want even with some weakness.
3-management&coaching?the weakest link?

HOPEFULLY, this thread MIGHT POTENTIALLY reach 20+ pages.

But until we see this thread with pads on, in a real game, we have no way of knowing for sure.

WE need to send Chaz on on Greyhound oneway to The northpole

I agree with this. Dez occasionally pulled a great catch out of the air. But he wasn't a force in the game at all last year. I'd take Gallup as an unknown over what Dez is right now. Gallup is a rookie and will have a steep learning curve. But he looks like a baller.

I like our receivers for this year. I'd take another next year, but I think we were shorter at receiver last year than this year.
