Maybe he'll be a little quicker. I've never seen a player bulk up and be better as a running back. Remember Julius Jones and Marion Barber. They packed in some lbs and they went down hill.

From what I gathered during the last game, Murray prefers playing at a higher weight. He walks around at 210 during the week, then packs on 10 pounds over the weekend for the game. The extra weight helps him feel like a stronger runner for the game. Simms and Nantz discussed this based on their conversation with Murray.

Yes, he adds 10 pounds in water weight. So this probably slows him down as open field speed. But gives him the power to run over and through defenders.
Give me those first down runs when needed, because how many times do RB's with speed really break those long runs.
Give me the steady grind out, pound it down their throats running style.

I was thinking, that gaining some of the extra water weight might help him stay fresher throughout the game. Most of these guys probably lose at least a couple pounds just through sweating. Also it's a good way to make sure your body is hydrated to avoid cramping. It probably contributes to his ability to finish games strong and recover a little quicker.

He probably takes creatine to help him hold water weight. I pack on weight easily with that stuff.

I believe Parcells ruined Julius he ran into a fumble issue and Parcells got into his head. He started running like a FB with both hands on the ball which changed his running style. All he did was run straight into the line of scrimmage and the big plays started disappearing. Barber faded once he became the starter and his seek and destroy running style caught up with him. The punishment and increased carries took it's toll and his legs started to go. The only back that added weight became a problem for was Felix Jones. He started bulking up after his first season where he showed real quickness and the added weight seemed to rob him of his burst and agility. He didn't look as fast anymore and went down the drain.

It's not gonna matter we'll have Adrian Peterson next season by week 7.

He'll be pushing 31 by then go see how many great backs that were aging continued producing after they left their original team. Some seem real excited about moving on from Murray and having Peterson join the Cowboys well I'm not one of them.

Yes, he adds 10 pounds in water weight.

that's almost 5 liters of water. go drink 5 liters of water and see whether you can keep it in for very long. better yet, don't. it can actually be dangerous.

murray might eat and drink a lot the weekend before a game, but that story the announcers told last week was a tall tale.
