Could the anemic run game vs the Vikes have been strategic?

Don't really agree with this. In the second half, particularly in the 4th quarter, they were giving us the run. We really didn't take advantage of what they were giving us defensively IMO.

Maybe not but if you go back to the days when they had a dependable J. Jones or M.Barber they passed around 60% like most teams but if you look at the years since they gutted the line and haven't had a dependable rb the passing has been outta whack. They just don't have confidence in this group to run the ball. Allot of people want to suggest that it's incompetence in playcalling and I just don't think thats the case.

Nothing wrong with attacking another teams weakness or even having a pass heavy offense but the threat of a running game needs to be present. I think many of us clamoring for more carries aren't saying you shouldn't focus on the pass against a depleted or weak secondary but realize that the very threat of the run helps that passing attack through play action and not letting D-Lineman rush freely on every play.

Agreed. I just think we tried to attack that secondary. I'd rather see a better balance. I get a hunch that ratio will be more balanced vs NO.

Agreed. I think we see a healthy dose of Demarco, 125+ yds. I'm still waiting to see some of those Dunbar screens.

I do think head coaches game plan week to week with an eye on the following week's opponent. Moreso for big games, such as this NO game, where we can go into the bye with a W and a winning record. Then come out of the bye week getting some important pieces back on the field healthy and well rested for the home stretch.

while the passing game didnt end up being as spectacular as i had hoped...just counting the drop by twill and dez would have put romo near 400 yds, in addition the the penalties that took us out of field goal range an abnormal amount of times, this game could have easily had a great day passing. i wouldnt say it was the lack of ability to pass as opposed penalties and drops
