Could the injury to Lawrence be a good thing?

On the surface it sucks but hear me out.

Take a look at Seattle's DL, they basically rush 4 DTs without a true rush DE...so us having a rotation of Selvie and Mincey at RDE and Crawford and Gardner at LDE might keep us above water.

Now the good part.

Unlike last year where we kept losing players this year we might be adding Spencer in week 6 and Lawrence in week 8 giving the defense a boost with fresh legs against worn down offensive lines down the stretch. Maybe giving us a D that will hold leads instead of giving games away when the wins count the most.

It is foolhardy to believe that Lawrence himself was worth wins and losses. It certainly hurts to lose a player who you expect to at least be rotational, but the interior pass rush is far more important than the edge rush in my opinion.

Like the attempt at finding a silver lining. And you have a good point.

I don't see the silver lining on this. As a rookie he is missing valuable time, then when he returns his NFL experience will have consisted of less than 2 weeks of practice. Coming back from injury is one thing but little he can do about missing this critical learning. This is a big setback for him and the defense.

Seattle signed Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril last year. They also had Chris Clemons and Bruce Irvin. In other words, they had a lot of pass rushers. Do we have a single pass rusher on the team?

Nice try, but there's no positive soon to be had here. It's like the Lee injury.

FWIW, I'm sorry other posters are dumping in you just for trying to look on the bright side, even if there isn't one.

There is no good news ,no silver lining here. An opportunity for another player yes , but that's about it. The worst part of this is our rookie will miss all of training camp and part of the season. Can we really expect much of an impact when he returns?

It's unconventional, but I like the way you think.
