I haven't researched it so I'm going strictly by memory (which I admit isn't the best), but if the eagles win the super bowl would they and the Saints be the only teams that won a super bowl with an all-time losing record as a franchise that have existed for 30 or more years?

I would imagine the Steelers had a losing record when they first won their first SB.

I thought 49ers might qualify, but they were actually at exactly .500 when they won their first Super Bowl.

The Jets (SB III) had and currently have a losing franchise record.

Yea but it wasn't 30 years at the time they won the SB. Another team that won it in less than 30 years but close was Tampa bay.

I think you're correct PA, ...they are 619-552-21 and didn't really start winning much until Chuck Noll arrived.

Yeah, they started in 1933 and the "Immaculate Reception" game in '72 was their 1st playoff win and only their 2nd playoff game ever (lost the 1st to Philly in 1947).

NFL is so competitive I'm not sure if anything I would buy into the below or above 500 franchise.

Steelers from their inception in 1933 through 1973 were 202-302-21. Only 1 playoff game in first 40 years.

The Cardinals also has a losing record .

Chicago Cardinals (1920-1959)168-246-26
St Louis Cardinals (1960-1987)186-202-14
Phoeinix Cardinals (1988-1993) 32-64
Arizona Cardinals (1994-2017)167-216-1

All time regular season 550-740-40
1st SB appearance 2008

That’s truly amazing . Only 1 playoff appearance first 40 years and 30 since. Ben tied Bradshaws playoff appearances this year with 10.

How about the Seachickens?
From their inception in 1976 thru 2004 which was 29 seasons had a 214- 238 record before their 1st appearance in SB 40.

From 2005 until their 1st SB win SB 48 they were79-59 which made their overall record 293-297. But since they have amassed a winning record 334-323-1.

So yes, Seattle would qualify . Barely with a losing record before1st SB win. Good guess!!
