Country Music Hall of Famer Don Williams has died. He was 78 years old.

With his imposing stature, smooth vocals and soft-spoken nature, Williams was the "Gentle Giant" of country music.

Over the course of his four decade career, Williams recorded hits like "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "Tulsa Time" and "It Must Be Love."

Williams retired in 2016.

"Gentle Giants," a tribute album featuring Chris and Morgan Stapleton, Alison Krauss, Dierks Bentley and more singing Williams' songs, was released.

Funeral arrangements are unavailable at this time.

That's to bad, I've got some of his tunes I still listen to,,,
I was in a bar eating lunch and waiting on a new set of tires being put on and the blonde bartender told me the singer of Montgomery Gentry died when the helicopter went down in a crash today.
