Considering all the talk around drafting a CB, does this quash any notion that these two CBs have any potential to replace a guy like Reeves in the nickel?

I don't think so but they were not top ranked guys coming out so they will have to prove themselves this year. I still think we need to go after a top quality guy in the draft and then see who steps up in training camp and pre-season.

i think we'll have to see what Ball can do in camp, as i know he seemed to impress the coaches while on practice squad which is part of the reason they brought him up.

and remember that Brown is our 3rd string FS right now, so i doubt they'd put him at corner now, if they would have wanted him there i think he'd have been there from the beginning

I have read that both of them have potential.......not sure how long it will take them to reach it.

I think Brown made the permanent move to FS. He's a nice project 4th/5th safety simply because of his size/speed combo. I doubt Ball has very much chance of sticking around.

I think Ball could absolutely be better than Reeves once he gets a little more experience and strength.

Not saying that he definitely will be, but he could be.

(Brown is a safety now.)

Leave Brown at FS. Our staff doesn't think he has the hips to play CB fulltime anyway. I like the idea of having a FS with his speed. Give him time to develop, and he might become a real asset.

For now, Draft a CB early. Let the rest work itself out. We can't go into next season gambling on dramatic improvement from our current roster.

All I can say is that Ball must have been the only decent player left when we picked him:huh::confused:

At this point a RC car could give us what Jaques Reeves gave us. So I give Alan Ball a fighting chance.

Ball looks like he needs to gain about 100lbs before he is able to step on the field for any length of time.

Both are scrubs.

Maybe they develop into decent role players/backups....but no one will cry if/when we cut them.

They are both just jags at this point.

If we beef up the 2ndary as I hope they will struggle to make the final 53.

Ball will have a shot to do so, but with a high draft pick in front of him, the odds are stacked against him.

They've pretty much set up Brown to be a safety. Ball I was never high on, though he's been better than expected.

I'd still be for re-signing Reeves. They can re-sign him to a moderate deal, set it up to make him the #4 CB, and also get him back on special teams coveage. Then draft a CB.

Stop playing zone coverages in key moments of the game and our DB's will be better.

The whole group seemed lost out there playing zone.

Never understood it.....player runs by.....if he is outside your zone.....you just stand around looking like a dummy covering no one......just space.

I may have to change my mock to have Porter as the pick at 22, too

don't think Leodis lasts till then
