Here are some quick thoughts I had after reviewing the All-22 Film:

RB
: I thought DeMarco Murray ran extremely well on Monday. It’s a shame that the defense couldn’t keep it close because Murray could have had a career day. I was hard on Murray earlier in the year, but he has really picked up his game the past few weeks and has run very hard. This is the DeMarco Murray that the Cowboys need for their offense to be successful. I was very pleased with Murray’s game, outside of one bad route in the pass game. Murray is playing the best football of his career.

WR: There isn’t too much to say about this group that I haven’t said in previous weeks. Dez was doubled often, but was still creating separation. Miles and Williams struggled to beat single coverage and Cole Beasley continues to make plays. It was your typical Dallas Cowboys wide receiver game.

TE: I want to highlight Gavin Escobar for a second. The catch that he made down the seam was a play that I wish we would see more often from him. Everyone knows that I have been critical of the Escobar selection and you could say his rookie year may have validated my opinion. But I actually don’t think that’s the case. I’ve seen a few plays from him that make me curious as to what he might become in a few years when he is the full time starter.

I have to admire people who sit down and go through film of such disgraceful displays of football.

I wouldn't have the stomach for it.

LOL. This one wasn't even the worst one. The games that are decided by a few points are the tough ones. This game was pretty easy to get through. The team just got whipped.

Especially Romo. He ultimately decides where the football goes.
True, but it looks like a lot of plays are designed to go elsewhere.

I will never understand how the Cowboys have a passing play where Dez isn't the #1 option lol. How on earth can you design a play that is meant for Austin or someone else, than Dez?

I understand the third down throws to Beasley, all he does is complete them. Romo's options should be Dez, Witten, Beasley in that order.

I read the article and once again someone has pointed out Bruce Carter's lack of effort. I understand that we lack talent in several areas of the defense. Bruce does not lack talent. There is NO excuse for a lack of effort..... None. And if the coaches tolerate it, there is no excuse for them either.

Even still, in most of those situations, I think Beasley is the "hot" read or Tony only goes there if the safety goes with Dez, but I mostly agree with you.

I said this before and I will say it again: Bruce Carter will never reach his potential as a professional football player. Sorry RomoSexual but I just don't think he wants it.

I was actually doing an all-22 review of Bryant for this last game, but ended up abandoning the project about halfway through on the account that there weren't many good examples because:

1. The Cowboys were running the ball down the Bears throats and really did not need to get very vertical with the passing game.

2. Some plays when he was open, the play was designed for someone else.

3. Or Romo was under duress.

Dez was actually moved around quite a bit this game, but it was still the same ol' same ol' decoy Dez stuff.

Edit: To clarify, I finished watching all the snaps, I just didn't put together a write up for it.

Ugh, I hate that you used the word decoy. That's the same thing Callahan did with Moss in Oakland.

Im a Bruce Carter fan, but I have heard this talk about him before. This can't be tolerated and I could see him losing his spot for the rest of the year if someone steps up and takes his spot.

If you want Dez to stop seeing double teams....the other WRs have to make plays. My goodness...how can you NOT get open facing one on one coverage? You are useless in this offense if as a WR you cannot physically beat the man in front of you...because we do not scheme anyone open. Which is WHY Dallas has always preferred bigger WRs. Because they conclude that a bigger WR can beat single coverage. Hence Danny Amendola NEVER had a chance here...even though he has gone to other teams and put up huge numbers.

I re-watched the game on my DVR today.....And you can throw in Carr's name as well. He got pretty beat down Sunday night.....And discouraged.

You got 3 problems going on right now..........

Biggest problem is scheme.....and I blame that on coaching for not getting players in the right spot for success.

2nd. Is lack of talent.....You like seeing effort out of guy like Hayden/Heath/Sims/Nevis......But lets face it. They are in over their heads. I'm sure you could add a half dozen names to this list.

3rd. Guys just giving up....for whatever reason. Frustration w/ scheme(Carter/Carr). Frustration because of injury(Lee/Ware/Claiborne)

Murray still likes to run right into defenders that are already being blocked. Some of his runs could be much longer runs if only he had better vision in the open field.

Especially Romo. He ultimately decides where the football goes.

He's thrown it to him 118 times this year (once every 6.28 plays/roughly 16% of plays), which is almost 1.5 times more than anyone else on the team, and 11th overall in the league. What do you want?
