Wide receiver Cole Beasley has appeared in four games this season and has played only 71 snaps on offense. To most people watching the games, he is the Dallas Cowboys fourth or fifth wide receiver. Why would anyone be writing an article about the importance of Cole Beasley? Because Beasley is a difference maker on this team that needs to be on the field more often. He creates devastating mismatches for defenses and the Dallas Cowboys’ offense is more explosive with him in the game.

Why do I say this? Look at it this way. When Cole Beasley is on the field, he is typically the 5th option the defense focuses on. The order in which the defense has to focus their attention breaks down like this:

This morning on Sirius Ross Tucker was talking to Greg Cosell about the game. Cosell brought up 2 stats to tease his match up show; the cowboys have run more plays from an empty backfield than any other team in the league so far this year and the eagles defense has not been on the field in a dime defense yet this year.

It's a good article. As Beasley's role increases, I'm sure teams will be looking to jam him off the line. I'd like to see how he handles that.

Sadly, JG seems to prefer him on the bench. Anyone know Beasley's contract situation? A team like NE would know how to use him.

A DB could jam him and run with him. But if opponents jam him with a LB; its six. And being that the DB's are covering Dez and Twill....not likely.

Beasley adds a lot to this offense. With Murray out, those little quick screens to Beaz will act like runs for us against Philly.

The only problem with the empty backfield is Romo has to make quick decisions and he gets hit more.

more beas less austin please. Austin doesn't look like he is giving it his all. He is the austin that fought and scratched his way into the starting line-up. He looks like a guy who made it and then stopped working hard and is just going through the motions. He is playing in the slot and isn't getting open, not quick anymore and not even breaking tackles. SMH. You would of thought he was like 32 years old the way he is playing.

I was preaching this before the season. I tried to tell people that he would be the #4 receiver, and everyone wanted to put Harris ahead of him. Harris is doing great on ST, but Beasley is still the better receiver at this point.

If we feed him the ball we can really move the chains more effectively. Williams and Beasley present something that is significantly better than Miles Austin. The combination of the two give you a great and more dynamic threat on offense.

This is Miles' last year in Dallas because of their development. Perhaps we can bring back Danny Coale in the offseason and he can show us if he can stay healthy. I hope we can manage to get something for Austin. It would be a shame just to release him in June (or as a June 1st delegate).

Not if he does the 2 second throw think like Peyton... Should be pretty easy as quickly as the Beaz gets open.
