233 catches for 3030 yards and 38 touchdowns. Any college receiver would be thrilled to put up that many touchdowns in a four year career. Those are some fantastic numbers for anyone. But get this; those stats listed above, weren’t done in four years. Not even three years. Davante Adams from Fresno State, managed to score 38 touchdowns by the end of his sophomore year. Adams managed to catch 38 touchdowns before his 21st birthday. Unbelievable.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Davante Adams play, I suggest you check out his bowl game against San Jose State this past year, which I have below. Please note; this is not a highlight tape. This is a breakdown of his game against San Jose State and although it may look like a highlight video, this is a single game:

This begins my evaluation of Fresno State’s all time leading receiver and possibly a top 50 selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. So let’s first take a look at what kind of athlete we are looking at today and other comparable receivers:

Ive seen every home game in person he;s played. He's big for a WR. Same type of build as Dez and like him tough to bring down. He runs every route in the tree. IMO he's the most NFL ready Wr in this draft. If he's there in RD2 i could see Dallas taking him. He would replace Beasley as the 3rd Wr easy.

I am a big fan. He reminds me a lot of a quicker Justin Blackmon coming out of school. But without the headache of course. ;)

I don't really like him at all. I think he's a system guy and I also think a lot of his success is attributable to the talent he plays against and the QB throwing him the ball. I don't really like him.

I dont really like him. Looks like a solid but never pro bowl or great WR.

I'm all about draft a wr early in this draft but I want one of these three.
Jordon Matthews
Martavis Bryant
Donte Moncrief

You look at the Cowboys from last year and you conclude "Yeah, that's what we need another ... RECEIVER."

Yeah my problem with moncrief is positioning. He plays the X which is where Dez is best. Doesn't play the slot very well and hardly ever comes across the middle.
Matthews does it all which is why he is my favorite of the 3. But I would take any of them.

He is def not a system guy. Fresno States typical System was more like Clemsons, that bubble screen type stuff. The majority of those passes went to guys like Isiah Burse, Josh Harper, the smaller quicker WRs FS had. Adams ran everything, short, intermediate and deep routes. He had 233 and 3030 yrds and 33 tds in 2 yrs with Fresno State. You can run him on the outside or the slot. A system WR usually sticks to one spot, because he's used a specific way for that system. Like Harper was strictly a outside guy opposite Adams always off the LOS because he could be taken out by aggresive CBs, Burse was 95% a slot guy getting the majority of them bubble screens because he quick and elusive. Adams did it all in all posistions. Up and off the LOS.

No but you don't go by needs. If WR is the best player why not take a WR if he is the best player. You can tell me another WR that is a true #2 that will take pressure off Dez wouldn't help this team out more than reaching for a mediocre player for a position of need.

That is a very dumb statement. That reminds me of... "We don't need LeSean McCoy. We need a tackle like Robert Brewster!"

This. I hate seeing Dallas reach for players and skipping for players I wanted. I don't understand Why people don't want to real good wrs on this team and want us to reach for average players.

I think the biggest reason to draft a WR is because Beasley and Harris cant play the outside. They need to replace Austin. For insurance because of injury but more because Dallas started using Dez more in the slot last yr and Linehan will be moving Dez all over the formation. You need that outside receiver to be there when Dez does go inside.

Having "two" WRs and reaching are completely unrelated. And who is to say that the "players you want" are better than the players that other people want to see drafted. Calling them a reach just because they don't play WR shows you totally are focused on one position.
