Cowboy Uniforms. Why the green pants?

I've been on this soap box for years, even asking Jerry Jones the question on The Ticket six or seven years ago. Why are the pants green? Jones' response was "the reason they look green..."

Well, Jerry, if they look green they are green!

The Cowboy colors are navy blue and silver yet when they wear their white jerseys, they have green pants and royal blue socks (and numbers). Why can't they just wear the same pants/socks they wear with the blue jerseys?

The green and royal blue is a bad look.

I agree about not changing a classic but compare today's pants with those worn by the Cowboys in the '70's. Big difference.

In a word, yes. A shade of silver. I wish the blue on the jersey matched the helmet. I think the blue away jerseys are great and the home whites ought to be a mirror of them.

The color is more of a silver blue not green

If I took that illustration (or the photo posted above) up to Home Depot and matched against paint chips, I bet it would line up with "seafoam green" family more than the silver family.

But the animated picture and the photo are not exactly the same.

That pant color goes back before Jerry. The color first appeared in the 80's right after Tex changed the road blue jersey, maybe 81 or 82. I don't think the Cowboys intended the blue/silver color to have a green tinge, but under certain lighting conditions it does have a green hugh, especially when the Cowboys play a night game on a grass field. If you can find them, take a look at pics from the last game of the 1984 season against Miami. The "green" is very apparent.

Man, the things people find to complain about after a win, especially this one...

I agree, we should go back to the days when the pants were more greyish silver.

I will say one thing about the greenish tint to the pants. They seem to look "greener" when we are playing under artificial light. I've noticed that when we've played away games in California, (like San Diego and Oakland) and we play in natural sunlight, the pants don't have as much green tint to them. They seem to have a blueish tint.

Interesting topic. I love to talk Cowboy uniforms.

On TV, they usually look more blue than green. In still photography, just the opposite (esp during day games). Just tell Reebok to ditch the greenish hue.
