CowboysZone Mock Draft

San Francisco is on the clock at #17

Vote how you think the team WILL draft (not how they should draft)

I'll provide at least 8 choices for each team (sorry if I don't include your favorite and you're welcome to email me suggestions prior to a team's choice)

I'll leave the option out there for at least 4 hours unless it is so unanimous that I can go on to the next team. When we move on, I'll make a post saying the counting for that draft slot has ended and what the verdict is

Results so far

1. St. Louis, SAM BRADFORD, QB, Oklahoma
2. Detroit, NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, Nebraska
3. Tampa Bay, GERALD McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
4. Washington, RUSSELL OKUNG, OT, OK. St.
5. Kansas City, BRYAN BULAGA, OT, Iowa
6. Seattle, ERIC BERRY, S, Tennessee
7. Cleveland, JIMMY CLAUSEN, QB, ND
8. Oakland, TRENT WILLIAMS, OT, Oklahoma
9. Buffalo, DEZ BRYANT, WR, Oklahoma St
10. Jacksonville, DERRICK MORGAN, DE, Ga Tech
11. Denver, ROLANDO McCLAIN, ILB, Alabama
12. Miami, DAN WILLIAMS, DT, Tennessee
13. San Francisco, JOE HADEN, CB, Florida
14. Seattle, CJ SPILLER, RB, Clemson
15. NY Giants, SEAN WEATHERSPOON, LB, Missouri
16. Tennessee, JASON PIERRE-PAUL, DE/OLB, USF
17. San Francisco, ??????

ON THE CLOCK:
SAN FRANCISCO
What will the 49ers do with Pick #17?
  • Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
  • Maurkice Pouncey, C/G, Florida
  • Earl Thomas, S, Texas
  • Jared Odrick, DE, Penn St
  • Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
  • Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
  • Charles Brown, OT, USC
  • Jared Oldrick, DE, Penn St
  • Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
  • Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan
  • Taylor Mays, S, USC
  • Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
  • Trade down ---must pick team and spot they trade with; you don't need to name a player b/c that will depend on who they trade with, so we come back to that after a tradea put the new team on the clock.
  • write-in votes accepted
Notes.
SF already picked Joe Haden at pick 13
Assumed team needs: OT, QB?, S, OG, WR, DE, RB?, TE (blocking)

Staley is a good OT and can play on the left or right side. They have a hole on the other side, so I'll go with one of the many good remaining OLineman...

Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

Earl Thomas is slipping. Here kitty-kitty. They grabbed Joe Haden earlier and I think they'll want to go away from the secondary at this pick. At some point, will the Boys trade up? It's expensive at this slot.

I think San Fran will take a long hard look at picking Thomas or Mays. Their secondary play last season was not good at all and I read that Singletary actually likes Mays as a SS. But, there will be a chance to snag a safety later and Davis is the last of the "first tier" tackles remaining. They need better RT play in the worst way.

They select Anthony Davis

Davis makes sense on the right side.

12:40 pm
>2 hours in, Davis is leading.

Not much voting yet on this one I'll leave it open at least until 2

Are people selecting against ET on a lot of these picks hoping he falls close to us? I believe you can get a RT soemtime after the first. Earl Thomas is my pick...they shore up the secondary real quick

there are still voters, so this will ride until at least 3pm

the votes are scattered between Davis, Thomas, Kindle, and iupati...all very good fits at this spot.
