CowboysZone Mock Draft

Houston is on the clock at #20

Vote how you think the team WILL draft (not how they should draft)

I'll provide at least 8 choices for each team (sorry if I don't include your favorite and you're welcome to email me suggestions prior to a team's choice)

I'll leave the option out there for at least 4 hours unless it is so unanimous that I can go on to the next team. When we move on, I'll make a post saying the counting for that draft slot has ended and what the verdict is

Results so far

1. St. Louis, SAM BRADFORD, QB, Oklahoma
2. Detroit, NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, Nebraska
3. Tampa Bay, GERALD McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
4. Washington, RUSSELL OKUNG, OT, OK. St.
5. Kansas City, BRYAN BULAGA, OT, Iowa
6. Seattle, ERIC BERRY, S, Tennessee
7. Cleveland, JIMMY CLAUSEN, QB, ND
8. Oakland, TRENT WILLIAMS, OT, Oklahoma
9. Buffalo, DEZ BRYANT, WR, Oklahoma St
10. Jacksonville, DERRICK MORGAN, DE, Ga Tech
11. Denver, ROLANDO McCLAIN, ILB, Alabama
12. Miami, DAN WILLIAMS, DT, Tennessee
13. San Francisco, JOE HADEN, CB, Florida
14. Seattle, CJ SPILLER, RB, Clemson
15. NY Giants, SEAN WEATHERSPOON, LB, Missouri
16. Tennessee, JASON PIERRE-PAUL, DE/OLB, USF
17. San Francisco, ANTHONY DAVIS, OT, Rutgers
18. Pittsburgh, MIKE IUPATI, G, Idaho
19. Atlanta, BRANDON GRAHAM, DE, Michigan
20. Houston. ???????

ON THE CLOCK:
HOUSTON
What will the Texans do with Pick #20?
  • Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St
  • Earl Thomas, S, Texas
  • Maurice Pouncey, C/G, Idaho
  • Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St
  • Jared Oldrick, DT/DE, Penn St
  • Taylor Mays, S, USC
  • Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, Texas
  • Devin McCourtey, CB, Rutgers
  • Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
  • Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
  • Charles Brown, OT, USC
  • Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
  • Trade down ---must pick team and spot they trade with; you don't need to name a player b/c that will depend on who they trade with, so we come back to that after a tradea put the new team on the clock.
  • write-in votes accepted
Notes.
Assumed team needs: CB, RB, OG, S, DT, WR,

They lost Dunta Robinson and need a CB VERY badly, but there are sveral available here. A trade down could happen...especially for a team wanting Earl Thomas (which is becoming very attractive value-wise). It would cost Dallas their 1st and 3rd to move up here. Do they do it?

Instead, I think they stay with their board and take the best player available

Earl Thomas, S, Texas

CB is the greater need but they could use a safety too. And being in Manning's division, they need a ball-hawk.

I think CB is too great a need to pass up, and there's a couple good ones still on the board.

Kyle Wilson

Earl Thomas continues to drop, but he won't fall past the Packers.

I'm looking at a Mock on line that says ET makes it to the Eagles. That same mock agrees with you and has Houston taking Wilson:eek:

Earl Thomas - this should be a slam dunk.

I tend to think the secondary needs help and that Slaton and the new kid, Foster, can do okay. But a lot (maybe most?) mocks have them going with Matthews....so you are not alone.

Matthews makes sense, but I think Wilson's a better prospect. Plus the RBs available in round 2-3 are better than the CBs in round 2-3. That's part of the reason that I couldn't go safety. If they skipped both of the two main holes, then it's even later until they get to address them. I just think going CB-RB-S helps them more than going S-CB-RB.

Wilson. They need to replace D Robinson who went to Atlanta.

Earl Thomas. They need a Cornerback too, but this is the type of elite talent they need in their backfield to help stop the Colts.
