Cowboys’ Chopping Block: Alfred Morris Becoming Odd Man Out In Running Back Room

...Cutting Morris would result in a net gain of $1,637,500 in cap space per Over the Cap. That just adds another reason why he would be very easy to waive.

This may be very premature, but it is interesting that no other veteran was as invisible as Morris, except those who were held out due to some kind of past or present injury. OTAs and minicamp are a time for trying things out, and the team may have elected to invest the snaps not going to Elliott and McFadden in trying to see if Rod Smith could become a two position asset. But if that was seen as successful, it just puts more pressure on Morris. With the depth at other positions, finding a way to get by with one less running back on the 53 is very attractive.

Morris will probably have a chance to make a case for himself in camp, and of course we don’t know how the dreaded injury factor might change things. But right now, of all the veterans in Dallas, he seems to be in the most tenuous position.

It a difficult decision on Morris.

If McFadden gets injured, they don't want Rod Smith as the primary backup to Zeke; however, as long as Zeke and McFadden are healthy, they would prefer someone other than Morris as the 3rd RB due to special teams and the fact that Morris is not a good fit as a 3rd down RB.

Meh. Not starved for cap with the Romo release.

Depends on how Jahad Thomas looks. I'll keep the vet over the small amount of cap we'd gain.

I think Rod Smith might bump Morris off of the roster, barring injury of course. With Elliott/McFadden the 1-2, I think they might look for a more versatile, utility player in Rod Smith over Morris, who was completely phased out of the team's plans at the end of last season.

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what they do at the offensive skill positions due to the roster numbers, but this is one gaining momentum for me and something I'm hearing more and more about.

The point of the article the blogger wrote is that because Smith got snaps that Morris didn't, Morris is automatically doomed.

I see a lot of speciousness in that conclusion. If it were that simple, Morris seemingly would have already been cut. Rather, I take it that coaches think they know what Morris can give them, and yes, they're wanting to see if Smith can get show enough to give them confidence they can, indeed, let Morris go. But that's it's own question. It's not merely a matter of who's getting snaps in June OTAs.

The view presented hinged on a couple of things and wasn't handcuffed to OTA's and carries...a general type indicator as to where unlearned interest was being focused. But, that is relevant in gathering information and just watching from this point.

As a sophisticated stat dropper usually isn't intertained by a blogger's atmosphere...simply, because he wants a spoon feed description that he doesn't have to cope with at all, and will fit completely in his own mouth for swallowing.

No, contrary to a ring tap...they are for discussion, and not merit on a rating system.

Yea, go figure...one would be closer to what is presented if one chose what did work from the premise(s) entertained, and applied associative things that do work.

As to running back, I would set my eyesight upon a youthful back, with a higher excelleration and view of the field...but did not also cost in the category of a limited production and category back in use, back. Special teams and blocking skills would be high on a #3 running back.

Auto-correct is a beach.
Good night, trainee...if one is going to back door feigned superior thought, at least stand up and take a swing, Prep.

Invisible Man Alfred Morris’ Roster Spot In Jeopardy

A Cherokee Squaw was not allowed to speak at a tribal/family meeting, until after menstruation. She was deemed 'dirty' until then.

hehe... thought it right to grant an auto-correct benefit-of-a-doubt... would be happy to respond, my friend, if I could follow the verbage, but I couldn't... predictably, you blame the receiver, like any smart quarterback attempts to do...

No blame shoveled around...but there will be more than a single veteran, this training camp, that meets the...
