Cowboys 2016 Free Agency Rumors: [UPDATE] No Dallas Visit For Leodis McKelvin, Signs With Eagles

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2016...-leodis-mckelvin-doesnt-sign-with-dallas-next

[UPDATE] Well that was quick, not long after I posted this article about the Cowboys lining up a visit with Leodis McKelvin, news came out that he has a greed to a two-year deal with the Eagles. One thing I guess it does show is the Cowboys will be active in the second-tier cornerback market. [END UPDATE]

The Dallas Cowboys aren't making a lot of news early in free agency, but that was expected. One name that has surfaced is Leodis McKelvin, who has a visit lined up with the Cowboys. The cornerback was recently released by the Buffalo Bills and is currently talking with the Eagles so he may never get to Dallas if a deal is struck with their NFC East rivals.

McKelvin played eight seasons with the Bills, he was their first-round pick (number eleven overall) in 2008. He is currently 30 years old and plays a position of need for the Cowboys. Over his career he has 13 interceptions and has started 60 games. McKelvin has had some great moments on special teams as a kick returner but he has had trouble staying in the Bills starting lineup because of injuries.

McKelvin is only 5' 10" and is considered more of a "speed" cornerback. He was scheduled to count $3.9 million against the Bills salary cap before they released him last Friday.

Good. If I'm spending money on DBs it won't be on 30+ year olds with average careers on day 1

Well, who else could fill that huge, gaping hole left by Byron Maxwell leaving? :)

Eagles are winning free agency just like super bowls....:muttley::igglestrophy:

Laugh all you want but they just dumped two players that we all thought suck in Alonso and Maxwell and flipped them to the Dolphins for salary cap relief and moving up in the draft from 13 to 8 (according to Pete Prisco at CBS).

That's far better than anything the Cowboys have done in the past few free agency periods.

Because the idiot coach they just fired acquired them and now with Howie in charge, he's trying to undo all the damage done.

The fact they were even able to find a taker for Maxwell and his contract is amazing but then to get a first round pick swap too? That's a big win for them........................

The Eagles destroyed their team last year, no props to them for allowing and creating such a mess!

Leodis McKelvin means championship for their new coach....:lmao2::facepalm::muttley:

Exactly. They are in this mess because of doing exactly what people want us to do. Spend ridiculous money on free agents lol. Cowboys don't have anyone last season that they spent money on that they can just trade off. Unless people want them to trade actual talent like Dez or Fredericks.

The Eagles always win the off season
Then fall apart shortly after
I remember all the praise for what chip was doing on this board, how did that work out

What we're doing ain't working either.

But did they get McCoy back?

Nope. Kelly screwed that up big time. But all they could do now is either stomach what Kelly served them or try to get out from under his bad moves. And thus far, they get an A for unwinding the crud Kelly hoisted upon them.

I mean would you swap the 8th pick for the 13th pick for Maxwell and Alonso?
