Second minicamp, 2nd day:
Cowboys lose a top three draft pick until the 8th game of the regular season.
Cowboys also lose a newly signed veteran free agent counted on to fill a need. The next and last time we hear about him is when he receives his injury settlement.
One week before training camp:
It is reported that two veterans recovering from injuries from the previous season will not be ready for training camp but should be ready for the regular season. They are both a scratch for regular season game #1.
2nd day of training camp:
The third day draft pick showing the most promise and generating the most excitement is injured and out for the season.
Preseason game #1:
A TE is injured because, well, it would be weird to start the regular season with a completely healthy TE squad.
Preseason game #3
A starter on the squad with the thinnest depth, excluding QB, goes down and won't be available for four weeks.
Three days before the regular season:
A starting O-lineman pulls a hamstring.
Two days before the regular season:
A starting O-lineman injures an ankle.
Game #2:
The backup that replaced the injured starter on the squad with the thinnest depth is injured.
Game #5:
It's time for Dak's regular season vacation. This one lasts for four games.
Game #8:
Just prior to starting their most difficult four game stretch, which will determine the team's playoff picture, one of the RB's in the two back rotation will be injured and out for......four games.
Game #10:
WR2 is out and might be able to come back in time for the playoffs...irrelevant at this point.
Meanwhile, after coming back and participating in two games, the top three rookie that was hurt in minicamp is hurt again. The next day he is placed on IR.
Game #13
The guy signed off the street to play on the thinnest squad is injured.
Game #14
The oldest veteran starter on the O-line is injured and misses the remaining games.
A week after the end of the regular season with no playoffs:
Two important, previously injured veteran players are now ready for action!
....Incidentally, they are both now unrestricted free agents.
