Not that these things matter too much... but still fun to see us up top.
#1 Indy
#2 NE

3 Cowboys4(+1)3/12The NFC's top rated offense continued to flourish Sunday against St. Louis. The defense played pretty darn well too. The Cowboys outgained the Rams 502-187 yards in what was Dallas's fourth convincing win of the young season. Tony Romo used his arm and his legs to put up yet another dream fantasy stat line, while the defense held Marc Bulger under 200 yards. His replacement — Gus Frerotte — fared no better. Wade Phillips has the Cowboys at 4-0; the team's best start since 1995. Dallas travels to Buffalo for a Monday night matchup.

Why not? It's just an opinion poll. It's not as if it were the BCS or something.

Who cares where we're ranked until the last game of the year???

The Colts beat the Pats 38-34 on Jan 21, 2007. They went on to win the Superbowl, and have not lost yet. To the champs go the spoils.

My best guess: the guy probably subscribes to the theory that the last Champions are the best team until someone beats them.

NE plays Indy @ Indy. That will be a helluva game.

The Colts have struggled a bit. The Pats are dominating every game. This is a power ranking, not what did you do last year. In a drag race, it's not about how you won last year, it's how you are dominating during the race. (yeah, I know it depends on how you finish, but this race isn't finished yet and the rankings are for the here and now)

Each of New England's victories has come over a team that presently stands at 1-3, giving their opponents a combined 4-12 record. They should be dominating. The Chargers and Bengals games probably looked like tough matches when the schedule came out, but the same could be said of Chicago and St. Louis.

The amusing thing is, nobody wants to talk about how they're beating up creampuffs like supposedly we are. And we have more injuries, IIRC.

Such is life in the 21st century...

Sorry, but the Colts are the undefeated NFL champs. I don't see how you can put anyone ahead of them right now.

Yeah, the Patriots whooped up on the Jets, Chargers, Bills and Bengals. The Colts have beaten the Saints, Titans, Texans, and Broncos.

Honestly, I'm more impressed with the Colts right now.

I'd be shocked if we weren't ranked #3 on a power poll right now. Nobody puts the Packers ahead of us because of how they've had to squeak by in a lot of their games and the Steelers lost, so there's really no other position for us to be in.

Packers don't have a running game and will get exposed for it just like the Steelers got exposed for not having a passing game.

1-3 Bills
1-3 Jets
1-3 Chargers
1-3 Bengals

BTW, the Bills only victory came against the Jets. total = 4-12 Winning %: .250 If you take away the 4 losses to the Pats, the record is 4 - 8, for a winning % of .333.

0-3 Saints
2-2 Titans
2-2 Texans
2-2 Broncos

total = 6-9. Winning %: .400 If you take away the 4 losses to the Colts, these teams are over .500. (6-5, .545)

Glad you're having a good morning, nyc.

we have the top rated offense i though?

FWIW Cowboys #1 offense again

New England got 404 yards of Total Offense tonight. This means they are now 36 yards behind the Cowboys.

Here is Dallas' rankings after the first four weeks.

Total Offense: 1st
Rushing Offense: 6th (Pats passed Boys here by 17)
Passing Offense: 3rd (Boys passed both Cinci and NE)

Total Defense: 8th (given up 2 yards more than Philly)
Rushing Defense: 7th
Passing Defense: 15th (Dallas was 31st after opening night)
