RELEASED *** Cowboys 53-player Roster Cuts/Released Thread ***

They don’t think they have room on the 53 and they don’t think he will make it thru waivers: this way you keep him for next year when Williams and Sanders might not be here
But if he can play why on earth wouldn’t they play him? If he doesn’t make the team he can just go to waivers because we have arguably the worst running back room in the league if he can’t make this room? Yikes

Clearly you are among the group that has special powers. Can't wait to catch your handicapping shows through the year. Should be a full 100% return on investment.
LOL....Chase is on a roll
His ego has taken over......he believes he is 100% right ALL the time. Even on issues clearly subjective (lol).

I'm hoping the Cowboys have their eye on a DT or two that will get cut and then decide what to do with Mazi. Even a DT for DT trade involving him along with a late round pick swap might make sense.

Not hating on Mazi but the fact he played into the third quarter of the last preseason game kind of sums up how the Cowboys feel. Even Earnest Brown didn't play in the game.
Mazi needs playing time. Lots of it. Even against 3rd stringers. Not anything more. He is on the roster

I don’t know I wasn’t impressed with any of the interior linemen to say they should boot Mazi.
I think they should toss him based on his play. He's a major liability.

Either trade for something or pick up a decent veteran option after cuts. But Mazi is just not worth a roster spot.

That’s unfortunate because when he goes against the better guys he stinks. I didn’t watch the last 2 preseason games but he was getting torched in the first one.
You probably saw one bad play. Corners get beat. But overall he looked decent to good.

The time to go get someone was back in march or during the draft. It’s just too late and odds are anyone you bring in is just another Mazi.

They did this last year with Phillips and Joseph. Neither offered much of anything and honestly Mazi outperformed those guys.

He will be back on the PS
He might also have asked to be released because he got a phone call from his agent stating that somebody was offering him better than vet min money and a chance to start, two things he wasn't getting in Dallas.

They could for Mingo and Mafah. Release Carson, then sign him back and move to IR.

What are the chances, someone claiming Mafah or Carson, one before the other. They would need to determine that.
But if both are injured, what are the chances a team claiming them injured. Then I believe they have to be added to that teams 53 for a minimum of 4 weeks.

Like when a player is signed off a teams's PS. they must be on. the active 53 for at least 4 weeks. Not sure if that applies to waiver claims

holden, houston, and even mafah probably getting cut. childress should make it
Mafah going on IR so he won’t take up a roster spot

Booker. After we drafted him.

So you see zero value in preseason as an ext of the preseason practice times?

You can evaluate them in just limited practices with zero tackling.

Which NFL teams are you advising, exactly?
I don’t think most vets need pre season. All rookies do and some vets depending on their position. Yes you can evaluate guys in practice but rookies especially need to get a feel for their position and the difference in the speed of the nfl and QB’s needs a few reps to.

Absolutely, they should've already done this.

But I think so little of Mazi that I'd cut him now, even without a viable replacement.

Keeping Mazi would just prove that the 'competition' mantra from Schotty is BS coach speak.

Year in and year out, Mazi is one of our worst defensive players.
It’s not up to Schottenheimer. He has a guaranteed contract and Jerry has rarely cut a guy he had to pay while he played on another team. I’d trade him to one of his former coaches. There’s a couple of his college staff now in the nfl and they know what he was able to do for them before
