RELEASED *** Cowboys 53-player Roster Cuts/Released Thread ***

Yeah, this is not good. Outside shot that Blue develops enough to salvage the running game, but Sanders and Williams do nothing for me. This could be a big problem for a team that claims it will run the ball a lot.
Williams I'm ready to give a chance, if for no other reason than because he hasn't played a snap. I've watched Blue his entire career and I know what he brings to the position. He's a RB3 at best and that's not a knock on him. Teams need a RB1, RB2, and RB3. I just don't know that Dallas has the 1-2. I can not believe this is what they are lining up against the Eagles. To have gotten better at WR, deeper at OL, and then to just ignore the RB room is beyond incompetent.

Well put.

I think they are overestimating the effect the OL coaches will have on the run game. I don't have any expectations for Williams based on his injury history and recent play. I think we've gone the Zeke Elliot/Joseph Randle route once again and will quickly realize that 3 yards per play is simply not good enough.

Oh calm down. That ship sailed in April. They are obviously counting on better line play and and teams being terrified of Lamb and Pickens. We were never fixing all this in one off season. Not that we ever will.

I saw Damien Martinez was just released, he was a Cowboy 30 Visitor.

So they basically traded Asim Richards for a pack of cigarettes?

Was it even worth the phone call?

I'm a little late to the party so I figure everyone already knows that Jalen Brooks got cut.....

Teams go deep in the playoffs all the time without great running backs.

I like having a bellcow, too, but they're really not that necessary. Running backs are a dime a dozen, and without a balanced and prolific offense, they go nowhere no matter who they are. See Saquon in New York.

I don't know if Fant will make it to their practice squad. His name, alone, may generate some interest.

They waited until 13 other backs were selected in the strongest RB class in a decade before selecting a scat back out of Texas. Lamb and Pickens will terrify nobody as long as Dakota is throwing the ball. What Lamb and Pickens might have done though is freed some space for a bell cow running back that Dallas doesn't have. I get that you can get it done without superstars at tailback, but Rico would have been a superstar amongst this group.
