Except for the rebuild decade, 2000 to 2009, and even under Jerry Jones, the roster has been at the very least, built to be at least competitive.

Super Bowl Winning Seasons...
71
77
92
93
95

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades...

Streaks of No Super Bowl Wins by Head Coach:

Landry
1978 to 1988
1960 to 1970

Garrett
2011 to 2019

Side Note:
Regular Season Wins in final 2 seasons:
Landry 10 total
Garrett 18 total.

Why did the GM tolerate Landry for 11 seasons with zero Super Bowl wins?

Jerry fired his red-headed stepson after only 9...
I get your drift...:), the team should stick to golf, right?

Since 2000, the Cowboys are 11-13 in season openers.
Compare that to their opening game record from 1960-99 which was 30-9-1.

Tom Landry was 22-6-1 in opening games.
Jimmy Johnson was 3-2.
Barry Switzer was 3-1.
Chan Gailey was 2-0.
Dave Campo was 0-3.
Bill Parcells was 2-2.
Wade Phillips was 3-1
Jason Garrett was 5-4
Mike McCarthy is 1-3.
The Landry years were when that opening day win stat meant something. Media used to always talk about the Dallas Cowboys record on opening day under Landry. 17 years in a row opening day wins is impressive when you have 17 years in a row non losing seasons, 16 playoff appearances, 12 NFC East Championships, 10 NFC Conference Championship game appearances, 5 Super Bowl appearances, and 2 Super Bowl NFL titles.

Jimmy record would have been 4-1 if not for Jerry Dumbo GM Jones not signing Emmitt Smith before the 1993 season.
