Cowboys allowed 9 of 10, 3rd down attempts

I would have to check but it seemed like it was always thrown to the same place: right over the middle. If the Cowboys cant cover the middle of the field they are not going to be able to do anything because they clearly cannot consistently get pressure with 4 which means you have to bring extra guys which means you need to tighten up on the middle of the field.

Yea boys . Don’t throw in your panty shaped towels yet.

16 games to go.

New DC and asst coaches. 2/3rd new players. 1st game of the year they don't look ready?

Exactly what did you expect? The finished product?
The giants looked pretty good for having a new coaching staff and several new starters on defense.

I understand still working out minor details but it’s not unreasonable to expect this team to be able to field a competent defense week 1. It’s still week 1 for the rest of the league too.

No, but the Giants looked a lot more like a finished product with a lot more new players on both sides of the ball, especially offense, than us. They had not just a new DC and assistant coaches but also a new OC and new HC.

A lot of fans here were mocking Harbaugh and saying he was over rated and although it’s only been one game, and things can change, those fans are looking awfully foolish right now.

What scheduled game can we officially say its year 31 of Jerry's traveling circus? Haha, just having fun. Its a long season.

I noted this in the predict the seasons wins and losses. I noted my two main concerns and why I picked 9-8 record.
  • New defensive coordinator. (I didn't mention this in the other thread, but it still stands)
  • Half the defensive started are new. They have no cohesion yet. Both from a scheme, coaching, and a team itself.
  • Finally, I predict there would be injuries that will play a role and we already have a few and it's week one.
I think realistically we need to give them time to see what this defense actually becomes. There are way to many unknowns including Christian Parker. This literally is his first defensive coordinator job.

Come on dude…

No one was expecting a finished product game one. Many probably had overestimated the moves in the offseason and their impact. I’ll grant that, but no one was expecting a finished product.

We are perfectly fine expecting basic competency, though. It never happened last night. This was reminiscent to me in some ways of the COVID-season defense and that train wreck of a unit. No chemistry and no continuity and they looked like high school kids learning the game. They were making high school mistakes last night too. Just boneheaded missed assignments and perplexing sets.

It doesn’t matter how “patient” you are. If the owner doesn’t let the coaches do their jobs, nothing will ever improve.

It was bad..........no question. Schotty has to know we need the offense to carry the defense

I didn't even see the stats compared to other teams week 1. But I WATCHED a lot of other games yesterday...and as I watched Dallas last night....I was simply horrified. And to see the numbers back up what I saw is actually sobering....because it confirms that I saw what I THOUGHT I saw!!!
