Likely with the departure of Canty, does Jerry pull out the big ol' wallet and look for a replacement? Do the Cowboys entertain the idea of bringing in Ray Lewis? Is Haynesworth even worth looking into considering the massive contract he will command? How about Julius Peppers? Is there anyone in free agency this year that the Boys might be eyeing?

Or do the Cowboys save their money and lock up DeMarcus Ware for seasons to come without making a peep in free agency?

I think we will bring in one reasonably priced ILB - not R Lewis.

And I think we will look at bringing in one DL, either a DE or NT, depending on the price.

Finally, we cut B Johnson and bring in a new number 2 at QB.

That's probably about it.

I think the biggest offseason move, signing wise, we'll make this year is getting DWare his money.

I'll just add that I don't think JJ was kidding when he said we weren't going to be big players in FA this year.

I think JJ basically wants to lock up Ware, pick up a couple "cheap" FAs, and focus on his new stadium for this year.

Next year, however, I expect a lot to happen. New coaching staff, etc.

Olshansky will be signed here. He played good under Wade and the coaches in SD didn't care for him much at the end of last season.

A veteran backup QB will be the other position addressed. Not sure who that would be. Wouldn't be opposed to having Orlovsky come in, but I think having someone with a similar style of play as Romos would make the transition easier for the offense if he was called upon to play during the season.

All the other needs will be addressed in the draft. Just not a lot of cap room.

It is not uncapped for certain. From what I understand, it is uncapped only if the two sides cannot come to an agreement.

That is far from a certainty, as I think there will be a cap in 2010, and I hope there is.

I hope we sign a back-up QB, a back-up OT a cheap ILB and Drayton Florence to be the #4 CB.

I'd say if there's not a cap, there's not a season.

Why would Olshansky want to come to work for Wade, when he will likely be gpne after this year? I think it has more to do w/money than Wade. Also, w/Brian Stewart recommendation, what credibility does Wade really have w/Jerrah concerning any personnel?

I don't think owners would let there be another strike. But, I don't think they will cave to the NFLPA. One of the sticking points, IMO, will be the rookie cap. Goodell is heavily in favor of it. I even think some of the veterans are, too.

Really? There's one thing Jerry does know about Wade ... he can choose the talent to play his type of 3-4.

Regarding Stewart, I'm sure Wade saw something that told him his protege could handle it. It didn't work out. That's business.

Totally agree. Leonhard is just a football player. Bill Bates type. Brings toughness, sound play & also adds to special teams. He is actually faster than you would think. I saw him every game w/the Ravens and I was impressed.

I think Big Bill chose most of the talent playing the 3/4 right now...
I did like the Polk signing and hope they keep him. I just think Olshansky isn't much different from Canty and will likely have about the same price tag. Wade can vouch for him all he wants; it will be more about the money.

Agree about Stew, bummer, we were all pulling for him...
