Cowboys are 14-0 since 2021 when they run 25 or more times

It’s a misleading stat because you’re not going to run the ball that much when you’re behind, nor when you’re playing a team that stops the run.

So if Philly can’t stop the run and you’re winning early, you’re probably going to win whether you run 25 times or 24 times.

Conversely, if Philly is up multiple possessions early, it’d be stupid to continue focusing on the run, thus preserving this statistic

I think more insight into:

1. Number of yards per carry.
2. Number of first downs gained in runs.
3. Number of splash plays of 10 yards or more.
4. Number of carries while behind or at equal score.
5. Number of runs on drives that score.
6. Number of yards secured by a passing play following a run play.
7. Number of points secured by a pass play following a run.

These would be more useful in analyzing the value of the run game as opposed to running 25 times leads to wins.

You think Dallas was up in every game in 1992? Because Emmitt had 344 carries that year. What about 1993 or 1995? Where they up in every game those years?

2007? With Marion Barber.
2014? With DeMarco Murray.
2016? With Ezekiel Elliott.

Running the ball and stop the run is still championship football, IMO. Especially if you don't have a top five QB.

No, but it’s not 1992 anymore. And you didn’t win a championship in any of those other years

Our defense is allowing us to run the ball, so run the ball. With that being said, we have to at least be able to move the chains equally as well with our passing game.

When the Cowboys run the ball 25 or more times per game, they’re 14-0 since 2021… regardless of who’s playing QB.

I won’t skip the rest of the season or assume that we’ll make the playoffs but 4-1 is a great start & the schedule only gets easier (“on paper”) from here. If the defense can continue playing at an extremely high level and we pound the rock with arguably the best 1-2 punch in the league (I’m super high on Tony pollard), that’s a very good recipe for January.

The way they’re playing football right now is sustainable, throwing the ball 40-50 times a game is not sustainable - that’s a recipe for turnovers.. and an exhausted defense.

They run that many times when they have comfortable lead. It not the reason why they are winning. Conversely if you are heavily skewed to passing it means you are playing from behind.

Why the arbitrary 25 carries, why not 22 or 26? It's because that's the number that gave you the best result.

Moore has to know this by now. Keep running the ball. Pollard broke one yesterday and other than the Defense getting a TD our WR did not. We were even on TOP. Had more penalties then them. We had more splash plays. Was the difference. We have areas we need to improve.

So why don't they just call 25 run plays in a row to start out the next game vs the Eagles?

It might just work , I guess (as long as they pick up a couple of 1st downs ) , the punishment delivered by OL and Zeke , will make their defense to make business decisions and if our defense plays true to potential, will be a low scoring affair and within grasp by Offense lead by Rush even to get back in the game and win it.

But dont forget Eggles have very good lines also , so if they get their run game going , which is one weakness this D still has , it may not be pretty.

Maybe the Eagles have some crazy stat like...The eagles are 19-0 when they rush the ball 40+ times...and we can make a pact with them that both teams run the ball every play until each team meets there number so that we can both win.

Go up against Mahomes in the playoffs and think run first will win…you better hope the defense plays the game if it’s life.

This type of football requires you to be mistake free, play great defense and play great special teams. They have to their credit. I just don’t think it’s sustainable.
Without above average QB play, it is questionable. A team would need a natural disciplinarian as their head coach and a pretty good QB.
