Cowboys are Lifting the Floor not Raising Their Ceiling

They’re not raising the floor, they’re digging the hole deeper. None of the signings have improved the team in any meaningful way. Some have been clear downgrades.
No, they have not been downgrades. Many of the players that are now gone, over the past 2 years, were players many fans wanted gone anyway. And now that they are gone, fans don't like that either.

Wellllll, I like bbq pork ribs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lifting the floor is not the same as lowering the ceiling.

At least "lift" means moving up. So there has been improvement on paper so far. That is what fans want. A sign of possible improvement. Though many can't see it that way. And yes, I can't blame them until we see it on the field.

But the effort is there. Far more than a year ago.
How is it "improvement" on paper? Not one guy they signed solves a real problem for us. Fowler is the best signing and he's a situational pass rusher for us, which we can use, but in no way solves a major problem for us. They still need the draft to deliver at least 2 immediate impact players that will at least solve one of our problems whether that be a legitimate DT, a playmaking LB, a viable #2 WR, etc.

I can't believe people are falling for this BS again. LOL.

Not falling for anything. If you say it is not an improvement, that is your right to have that opinion.
It is my right to think otherwise.
No moves have been any to put us over the top, but they have not made us worse.

I can. Yearly occurrence.

We are worse at the RB, CB, backup QB and WR position. For sure those last three can’t be argued.

That's the problem. They are literally using FA like they always have - tread water.

People are being wowed by the fact they signed a bunch of guys early but the only thing that has changed is the timing and number, the quality is the same old, same old from this idiotic front office.

They have not been upgrades EITHER and THAT is what the fans RIGHTFULLY COMPLAIN ABOUT

Draft will take care of that. Well, except QB.
The odds of the draft delivering an immediate solution at RB, WR, CB as well as other needs like DT is unlikely.

Hence why this front office continues to struggle to build a championship roster each year. They actually believe that the draft will fix their ills. It never does because it's impossible for a draft to solve all one's problems.

Need to fill the roster even if it keeps things the same. Then make the improvements in the draft.

Do I wish they would do better in FA, yes, we all do.
But can’t control than. Some fans vent their way, I vent my way, by not losing brain cells over it.

Well, the draft can fix much of the issues only if they would draft an elite player at one position.

This has literally been their strategy for a decade. Sign JAGs hopefully for depth and then the draft will solve all our needs.

It's worked great.

Well done.

Jerry improved this team enough to win 9 games(or so). Jerry is an expert at putting together 9-8 teams.
Jerry isnt doing this lol, he doesnt even know any of the guys they signed, except fowler.
I think maybe jerry and or his boy laid out a budget, so mcclay and shot are working within that.

If you still think cowboys are a 9 win team after the draft , pm me and I might bet with you on that.

yeah but it depends on who is doing the drafting for 1st 3 rounds.
Maybe they will.
We all have a guy or 2 we would like to see them draft, but they cant please all of us.
I would like to have hampton. golden, and ewers, have no idea when they will go though.
But yeah would be good if they got one good player, as far as elite, none of the guys are
elite till they prove it in NFL.

Players never get injured in your world I guess. I sure would have liked the LB and RB last year given all the injuries and disappointing play.

That is why I called it raising the floor. It is risk mitigation.

But lets pretend this not an attrition league and these are the types of players that help on ST. Nothing matter is your discontent.

You know what they did! gmab.

That's a lot of hopium, my friend.
What exactly is the hopium? I hope that you can making a compelling argument when my thesis was 'we have a long way to go.'

But yeah it is not all bad so I can see why you might think that.

You missed the point.

They just did what they always do. Every year they sign JAGs like we did this year and they are never more than depth pieces at best.

While other teams use FA for both depth and to try to fill some key needs, we just sign guys that largely end up as warm bodies to fill out a roster.

If your point is we just signed more JAGs than we did last year, I mean I guess you can be happy about it but at the end of the day it’s the same situation - a team with a ton of holes, ignored in FA and some misguided belief that the draft will solve our problems.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
