Cowboys are loaded with 3-4 OLB personnel yet they run a 4-3 scheme?

Don’t think Zim and Big Mike got a long.
Of course. Zimm knew what was needed and Mike and Jerry fought him on it. Zimm screamed for Tavondre Sweat, but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, Jerry just had to have him a project OLT(Guyton).

As usual, it's not so much who we take as it's who we pass on.

I really don’t think Eberflus wants to play run only DT’s, but rather two under tackles within the interior. Problem is they cannot hold up against the run and have to play more of a 1T in obvious run situations
Correct.

Playing 2 UT's has been tried several times and has never worked.

The staff on defense was brought in for the current status and changes. Let them have their chance before issuing your failure analysis. Your negative judgement is wrong now and just prejudiced. Give them their chance if you claim to be a fan...3-12 win seasons prior to this team being put together.
They can have their chance, but I would like a winning formula adopted. This defensive philosophy will not be it in my opinion.

3-4 versus 4-3 is a decade out of date.

teams run 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 nickels and then either walk up the 4th edge rusher or blitz an interior guy.
because Micah is so good as a pass rusher DAL has played it pretty much straight 4-2-5 and rushed him every snap.

It is more common to see 1 LB than 3 in today's game.

You can run 3 down linemen in either even odd or even a mix.

Well hey when you have to cut your HOF LT, where else to look for the replacement than the first round of the draft?

They are all ready to play immediately and are cheap.

I think the idea of 2 schemes is simply outdated.

At the snap of the ball, teams are in all different types of formations. using the skills of their players to the best of their ability, confusing offenses

But you need players that can play multiple positions to allow you to play multiple formations.. We haven't got that. Teams like the Steelers and Ravens can slot their players into 3, 4, or 5 man Defensive Lines. Our tackles are undersized and some of our players have been drafted too high (Williams, Kneeland, Smith). I'm pleased to see this years second round pick was more of the best player available as he is projected to be a 3-4 OLB although has the versatility to play as a DE.

Most teams spend 80% or more time in some sort of nickle defense, once teams saw they could 12 personnel us to death they used it but im not sure thats because of our base D...a 4-3 or 3-4 with no middle presence is gonna be bad knews.
