If the offers weren't there, I would have been shocked if Jones accepted anything less than a pair of first rounders. May as well keep him if that were the case. Bringing in talent at DT to pair with Osa, in front of Thomas and Mazi changes the defensive dynamic. I'm not going to say it was a great trade, but I like the emphasis on the trenches.

It could be a set back but there could be a lot of draft capitol involved.

Any "setbacks" should be temporary, for a normal NFL team.

Im not even tripping to be honest. Rushing the passer is not a issue with the Cowboys. Just it will be more of defensive collective as far as effort and which players will step up and take advantage of the opportunities. We finally got a sure proving run stopper with Kenny Clarke. Plus we got two first round picks. This team didnt have much expectations anyway this year. We all seen this coming anyway Jerry never valued defensive players, shyt he barely didnt want to pay Cee Dee. Aint no way he was going to pay Micah $47 million. So we trade for a DT we have badly needed for the last 10 years, and are down because of a 2024 where his health wasn't great? I think this deal says more about Micah's value and the Pack going all in and overpaying for a guy who was also "hurt" last year, and is a no-show against strong teams. If Micah finally exceeds expectations, it will have lots to do with GB and their willingness to build a D around him, something Jerry couldn't care to do there

Clark is gonna get cut in March.

His cap hits are insane starting in 2026.

This is actually a good trade for Dallas.
You had amazing edge depth and were trash inside.
Now you get a 2nd starting caliber DT at a very cheap price for an undersized pass rush demon who may not age all that well.

It frees up a ton of cap space over the next 3 years and strengthens your weakest defensive position.

Dallas going 9-8 with Micah versus 7-10 without him is a step in the right direction.
Dallas paying Micah 47M per year would have been insane.

Opposing offense had to gameplan for Micah. Now they'll face Dante Fowler, Sam Williams, Kneeland, and a rookie.

This is not, in any way, a 'good trade'.
