IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Terrell Owens has a message for Jessica Simpson: Stay away.

Simpson has become Public Enemy No. 1 among Dallas Cowboys fans because of a link being made between her appearance at Sunday's game and the poor performance of her new boyfriend, quarterback Tony Romo.

"Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite -- in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," Owens said Wednesday.

The Cowboys lost 10-6 to the Philadelphia Eagles and Romo had what was statistically the worst game of his career, all while Simpson sat in a luxury box wearing a pink No. 9 jersey she proudly showed off for television cameras.

The problem for her is, Romo's previous worst game came last December at home to the Eagles when then-girlfriend Carrie Underwood was in attendance.

"With everything that has happened, obviously with the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel she has taken his focus away," Owens said, echoing the chatter on sports-talk radio and blogs. "Other than that, she was high on my list until last week.

"Oh, I got a message for her when we make the playoffs. Just stay tuned."

Only ones i can remember off the top of my head. There are a lot of athletes who date/marry celebrities. And yes, the ladies usually attend the games.

The ONLY reason why it is even an issue in Romo's case is because the Network decided to show her face every five minutes during the game and tried to infer a relationship between her presence in the stadium and his bad day on the field. The media created it and now they are having a good old time trying to rope everybody else in, even when it is said in jest.

We're hearing different accounts of Terrell Owens' intent when he made comments about Tony Romo's relationship with Jessica Simpson earlier today.

I wasn't at Valley Ranch to read his body language, but two reporters just told me that he was joking when he made the following statement:

"Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," T.O. said. "I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she's probably taking his focus away."

One reporter called to tell me T.O. was absolutely serious when he said it. But I've now heard from two more reporters who said Owens was laughing when he made the comments, and it was all in good fun.

I still think he shouldn't have said it, but it's a completely different thing if he made the comments in jest

I think all the talk about Jessica Simpson causing Tony Romo to lose focus is much ado about nothing, but Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens apparently doesn't agree.

"Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," T.O. said. "I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony played and the comparisons between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she's probably taking his focus away. Other than that, she was at the top of my list until last week."

Romo didn't make his usual Wednesday appearance, so he didn't have a chance to reply to Owens' remarks.

"I've got a message for her when we make the playoffs," T.O. said. "Just stay tuned."

I guess we shouldn't be shocked that T.O. would throw his quarterback under the bus, but up to this point, the two have had a great relationship. I'll make some calls to see if any of T.O.'s teammates agree with him on this issue.

On a different topic, T.O. refused to address any Bill Parcells-related questions.

This is why she should never underestimate this guy's ability to wreck a locker room. Much more to come.

I realize Terrell is probably mostly joking, but he has to realize that everything he says is going to be on Sportscenter every night and analyzed to death.

He needs to zip it.

I don't think Jessica is a distraction during games for Romo, but she's certainly a distraction to the network guys who work the cameras and the analysts in the booth.

This is just the way it's going to be. She's a celebrity and cameras are going to be on her. She should keep going to the games, but maybe be in a more secure, less-visible location. I'm sure Jerry has a spot for her somewhere up there.
